“Title: Brush Everything
Additional: No notes except vocals above C3ish; untuned cymbals/percussion is OK.
Bridge contains harpsichord (any note).”
I’ve decided to leave the challenge of following rules from FAWM’ers, so this will be the final one. Maybe I’ll write a final song not constricted by rules – who knows?
When I read this rule back in late January, I already knew that I wanted to do a bass-based track. I’m glad @spingo said C3-ish as the bass reaches a whopping C#3 in power chords, if I’m not mistaken. I left out the harpsichord, though.
The screaming came naturally after I began recording. I almost fainted when I recorded it. How the heck did Kurt Cobain do this every night? Haha.
The lyrics are inspired by my fellow Dane Lars von Trier’s “The House that Jack Built”. It takes the perspective of a serial killer who “simply can’t help it”.
The sheer aggressiveness of this track easily makes it one of my favorite songs this year.
I'm not to blame for the blood coming out of her mouth,
An urge too unbearable to confront,
Another evening of wanting to kill
I can see it everywhere, it won't go away,
I have to move back and forth like a pendulum,
No more than my childhood offered
The soap in the closet can't help it,
Cleanse my mind,
