Where to start?
The original concept was that this was going to be a little like the "Intro and Outro" by the Bonzos, and was something that we fell into by accident in the FAWM Facebook group.
When the guests started to arrive, that concept went straight out of the window!
What we have is more of a house (castle) party, open jam, open mic session.
The nearest thing I can liken it to is an exquisite corpse with a conductor...
Anyway. Here's the cast list in order of appearance.
@carleybaer - grunge uke and elementary uke.
@spirulence - guacamole vocals.
@dragondreams - bass and drums.
@tcelliott - tasty, bluesy guitar.
@sapient - inconsiderately parked airship and monster guitars.
@declan - kazoo.
@calumcarlyle - harmonica, melodica and mbira, and that was the first time any of us had ever seen an mbira played using one's knees!
Professor @rahkoi brought his occult-powered orchestrata-in-a-box, and amazed us by controlling it with his mind! No moving parts. And as an added bonus he brought three singing gargoyles of his own. We can only hope that Geoffrey didn't manage to corner any of them in the scullery, otherwise we may be hearing the patter of tiny talons at some future date.
@lazyafro brought a cool synth, and he was joined by
@metalfoot with some "interesting" scat vocals.
@headfirstonly supplied snacks, moved furniture, pressed buttons he shouldn't have, plugged stuff in, unplugged it again, played an amazing array of instruments (Chapman stick, 9 string guitar, guitar synths), and channelled Brian May!
@izaakalexander - played three trombones, three trumpets AND the cello, simultaneously, without a hard hat or safety net! He did look a little pale afterwards though...
@pearlmanhattan brought some great jazz vocals (smooth).
@jamkar tucked his mighty organ under his chin and joined @dragondreams on stage for a quick burst.
New York, in the shape of @mikeskliar, laid down some smooth licks and smooth chatter, setting the werewolves' hearts a-fluttering.
Matron took her eye off @silvermachine for an instant and he joined us on piano and what was a guitar for a few seconds.
@dreamscuba brought some classy, crunchy plank work to calm things down (and @dragondreams had to join in on sitar for a few bars).
The climax was provided by our very own, Princess of the Cowbell, @darcistrutt. And Geoffrey will be doing his own laundry.
Special thanks to the three people I harangued constantly during today (@wobbiewobbit, @headfirstonly, and @devin) for their good humour in supplying me with the dialogue stems.
Mildly NSFW coz of a "pissed off" and "bollocks" in the dialogue.
A little aside. This is kinda proof that you do NOT need an all-singing, all-dancing PC to produce large-scale pieces. All this was done on an elderly Windows PC with the following spec:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+ processor at 2.20GHz
64 Bit Windows 7 Professional
Reaper version 5.97/x64
At one point there were 51 individual tracks open in Reaper!
And if I suggest doing this sort of thing again in the future... punch me repeatedly in the throat until I give up on the idea...
