Well, I'm turning 24 tomorrow, so I figured I'd write a song about it. Not much more to say about that, I suppose.
Sitting here and thinking,
My birthday thoughts and me,
Wond’ring how it’d feel to live
A quarter century
Am I supposed to feel different
By what I’ve lost or gained?
Well, I don’t know, I must confess,
I feel about the same.
Another year older, another year in the bag.
Another year to think about the good times that we had.
Another year to keep on living, playing, singing songs,
I’m turning 24, my Lord, another year come and gone.
I heard that there’s a fountain
You drink and never die
But who really wants to live that long?
And could you if you’d try?
I’d rather have some whisky,
Some wine to wet my throat.
I can’t worry about when I’m going,
When it’s time, I’m gonna go.
Remember when I was young and dumb,
And would never “listen here,”
If my calculations are correct,
I believe that was just last year.
They say wisdom comes in circles,
Another trip around the sun.
At least I’m bound to be a little older
By the time this trip is done.
