Blues piano with social commentary / reflection
This weeks' challenge is 'Perspectives' so my contribution is a social commentary on social media platform - Facebook .
..I gave this song an old timey blues piano music background so i could rave on a bit in a rambling way in the style of some of the pre - war blues pianists (and for variety once again )
So glad I’m not on Facebook anymore ‘ © Mark Di Marzio 20 Feb 2019
(Old time Blues piano and vocals / reflective)
1.I’m just so glad I’m not on Facebook anymore
I’m so glad I’m not on Facebook anymore
I’m so sick of the bullshit
I’m sick of my own bullshit too
2.Ten years is more than enough
It’s like the same kind of sentence you’d get
For assault and battery – or a liquor store hold-up
The world can show me nothing new now
I’ve seen it all
3. It’s an addiction- like liquor or cigarettes
But most people now seem hypnotised or paralysed
Can’t seem to pull themselves out of it
Like mice on a treadmill
You’re doing the same thing everyday
And what good is it ?
It’s like being controlled
From somebody from outer space
4. Yeah … just think about it .
5.They got algorithyms
And businesses use your information
To sell data to other businesses
Who analyse all your activities and ‘likes’
Its like .. something ..? The Manchurian candidate
That Frank Sinatra was in – a 1960 film
People don’t have memory anymore
They think it’s something new
6. I’m so glad … I’m not on facebook anymore
I’ve got so much more time
I’m so glad … I’m not on facebook anymore
I can do my own ‘thing ‘
I don’t have to ‘like ‘ nothin’ !
7.But if we opt out now – It’s a simple solution
It’s harder than it looks- but it’s pretty simple too
We just ‘de-activate’ or ‘delete’
Press a button and you can be FREE!
Why don’t people want to be free ?
Instead of controlled ?
I just can’t see the sense in that .
8. I’m so glad .. I’m not on facebook anymore
I don’t think I’m missing too much
I said ….I’m so glad – that I’m not on facebook anymore
9. ( spoken ) ,,, I’m so glad I’m not on facebook anymore
