This week the theme on the Ukulele Underground's weekly "Seasons of the Ukulele" Challenge is Disney films.
My main contact with Disney as a kid was the live action movies of the young actress who captured my innocent young heart: Hayley Mils. So this song is a tribute to her.
I wanted to marry Hayley Mills
When I was ten she gave me the thrills!
I rejoiced at all her triumphs wept at all her spills
Oh how I loved that young Hayley Mills
When I first saw her in "Pollyanna"
I yearned to give her the love her aunt denied.
I cried when I saw her in that wheelchair
Despite that I'd have still made her my bride.
In "The Parent Trap", oh it was sheer heaven,
There was twice the amount of Hayley to be seen.
Then I envied the man the kids thought was Jesus
Who Hayley loved in "Whistle down the Wind"
I wished I could have been on that expedition
On which Hayley sails the seas to find her Dad
I'd have warned her of the treachery of Ayerton
And protected her from that creepy old man.
Maurice Chevalier Bridge
I wasn't keen on sharing "Summer Magic"
Seeing Hayley with Tom it was no bliss.
But jealousy would burn my heart forever,
When in "Moonspinners" she gave Mark a kiss
Her star it faded as so did the sixties
I think I'll always blame "That Darned Cat!"
I missed her till I got my very first girlfriend
Then it was "Sorry Hayley, that's the end of that!"
