My valentines offering
The metre is a little complex but it works in my head
I know the metaphor doesn't work perfectly but hey
I don't have the most eloquent vocabulary
And to write a letter - well, er
I'm not that adept a speller
But the language of love has a whole new dictionary
And I want to tell you everything I hope and feel
With every idiom and phrase and term and vocable
I'll shower you with nouns all wrapped in adjectives
Kiss you with punctuation
Commas, even exclamation!
The tense of the moment is present indicative
Let's feel our way through verbs in every mood there is
Conditional, or maybe interrogative?
I'll compliment in poems full of metaphor
Sonnets, similes - I may
Compare thee to a summer's day
You are everything that I could ever want and more
And though I'm not quite fluent yet, I know it's true
I hope you'll see just how much I love you.
