This is the 19th song in my musical, History Class, that I am currently working on (but the third song I've actually written for it because I play by my own rules 😁).
(The dialogue in this song is actually pretty self-explanatory so I'll just let you read the song instead of explaining it up here) 😀
MR. A: (spoken) Erin? Wanted another history lesson?
ERIN: No! I mean, yes, I love this class, but I was just in here to get my textbook. I left it in one of the desks and… [pulls textbook out of desk] Found it!
MR. A: [nods approvingly and goes back to his work]
ERIN: [walking out of the classroom with her textbook but pauses before she leaves and turns back to Mr. A] Mr. A? Can I talk to you about something?
MR. A: Of course you can. That's what I'm here for.
ERIN: [pulls up a chair] Do you think I'm a bad person?
MR. A: A bad person? No. No one's perfect but you are most definitely not a bad person. Unless you've gone and done something horrible that I am unaware of.
ERIN: What if I met this really awesome girl and we started spending a lot of time together but in the process I ended up completely ignoring my best friend and now she hates me?
MR. A: That's not that bad-
ERIN: But I've ruined everything! Orla never wants to talk to me again!
MR. A: (sung) Erin, you're not a bad person
Life is for making mistakes
And now I don't know your friend
MR. A: Orla.
(sung) And now I don't know your friend, Orla
But I'm sure
No, I'm positive
You'll pull through
You've got this
I believe in you
People can change
People can try
People can get better
Even better when they realize
That growing makes you human
It hurts and it takes time
But you've got to keep improving
Even if you're scared inside
You're not bad
Everybody gets bruised
What makes you good is what you choose
You got to work harder
To keep a hold on
To those you're afraid to lose
So what do you choose?
(spoken) Life can be a lot sometimes. But you've got a big heart and there's enough of it to go around to everyone. Say you're sorry and promise Orla that you'll work harder to stay friends. If your pretty awesome girl is as awesome as she sounds then I'm sure she'll understand that you need to have time to spend with the other people in your life.
ERIN: Thank you. For everything. I'll go talk to Orla right now. [hurries out of classroom]
