Name that time signature...
4/4, easy 😂
Really like the main synth arp in this, and the string instrument sound (guqin?) against it works really well. Really good use of the channels here too, that panning synth pad is especially effective.
Yeah, I'm not even going to try with the time signature, though could I conceivable say 6/4? 😝 Some very cool, understated sounds in this, some of synths sound animalistic, great use of the stereo field.
I was busy counting for the first minute, and then the arp that came in suddenly made me feel like I was in Beverley Hills Cop. Anyway, is it 12/8? I'm thoroughly enjoying the polyrhythms going on here. There's that unsettling feeling when they seem to go out of sync only to link up again a few bars later. And the beat has a satisfying click to it, both the persistent snare and the kick that seems to dance around it.
Nice. I like the vibe on this instrumental. Very atmospheric, kind of JMJ.
I'm digging the mixture of arps on this...really cool sound design and nice hypnotic groove.
Christ... I'm trying to count it out and I'm not getting it! Put me out of my misery please! Anyhow, the quirky timing definitely keeps the listener slightly off balance and adds to the interest throughout. Plenty of melodic interest from start to finish too.
Enjoyed this - full of positive energy - in my mind there's an accompanying video of a flight through clouds and over mountains!
I love that trick - you know when you fake out a rhythm and then wrong-foot a mope into thinking it's gonna start on the 1 beat. The beat when it properly comes in is well crunchy and good. Was In The Woods a Rumpus song or am I misremembering?
