This was driven by the FAWM 2019 week two challenge of producing something 'Chromatic'. That led me to looking at scales that had multiple half-steps in them. And that led me to phrygian /aeolian mixed scales. The scale is (in C) C, C#, D, D#, F, G, G#, A#. Obviously not something I want to play over but harmonizing it did give me ideas.
This is in 'C' and it is, more or less:
Cmin -> C# -> Dmin -> D#
Fmin -> D# -> C# -> D+
As I was playing with the chords I used a sequencer to give me something fast that I could work over. I accidentally came up with this train like feel. I moved it to a score and it became the basis for the song.
The 'vocals' were done with a VST from EastWest called Voices of the Empire. The Erhu (stringed instrument) is from the VST by EastWest called Silk.
The 'train' is just a high hat with a delay effect.
The synth is Wobble 2. The strings are the solo violin, solo cello, double bass and piano are all part of Hollywood Gold from EastWest.
The lyrics are not words
