But lyrics and song content belong to the fawmers who wrote them!
My headphones broke so this one will have to make do without vocals. Mario is an imperialist.
It's weird innit how no fairytale (based) heroes ever save democratically elected leaders from the clutches of malign...um, crypto-fascists? Anyway, top chiptuning. So much so in fact that I spent most of my second listen trying to devise some way to make the letters CT (to signify CHIP TUNE!) with my hands. I failed but I will get back to you if I succeed. Nice little breakdown partway through, and I particularly like how the synth briefly went into an echoey cave before smashing right back in for the moderately-sized finale. I'm especially grateful to you for doing this track since it seems @fluidvolt has their priorities elsewhere this year (rolls eyes). I need my chipfix somehow, right?
Clicked because of the delightful name. I was thrilled to hear this take on one of my childhood staples. Great groove, but engaging throughout. And I too especially like that moment around 1:40 where he seems to really trip out.
Ooh wtf is happening to Mario at the 1:40 mark? He ate an unusually coloured mushroom there for sure! Ah he’s back to normal now. There he goes, workin’ the pipes. SWEET beats, I’m off to plug my SNES in! (For real, This totally inspired me to play Mazza!)
My first chiptune of the year... Super cool balance between the intro synth and those wonderfully choppy drums. Intense, but soothing at the same time, because of the constant synths. It is both modern and vintage at the same time. Nicely done!!
Magical. Kinda sounds like Mario did mushrooms.
Gloriously inventive. Love your beat treatment, first and foremost. The perfect amount of editing done there. On top of that, your synth work is stellar - the chiptune arps lay just on the right side of melodic, it's great. Love the portamento synths in the middle - gimme your secrets for that one.
I've really missed @lightningstef's chiptuney goodness this year but this fills that void magnificently! Particularly like that extra synth that comes in around 1 1/2 minutes and the way the beat gliches up around there. The arps panned either side after that section are great too! I do not know enough about Mario to comment on his imperialism, but I'll take your word for it and put him in my folder marked "imperialist swine"
This is so great, I love the bubbling synthesizers and the slightly detuned bits that come in, it feels video game-y without being too literal about it.
Mario is definitely an imperialist, and an apologist for the monarchy. Off with Princess Peach's head! If you do end up adding vocals later I will be interested to hear it.
Ohh fun, I like that the tracks sound kind of out of sync in places. And playing with some nice effects too, kept me entertained
It's true! I've always worried about the Mushroom Kingdom's diplomatic relations, since they appear to have no interest in reigning in one of their citizens' vigilante rampage!
I love how well this flows - the high synth makes sure that everything isn't simply "squared" to a 4/4 pattern, but a strong, driving beat is still felt. Love this.
you have the coolest ideas for songs!
the drums are my absolute favourite part
That synth work is so delightfully twinkly! Is that arp swung a little too? Sounds that way. Anyhow... very cool. Those beats are ace as well. I wouldn't know where to start assembling something like this. Does Mario ever age? I'd be intrigued to hear what his retirement years might sound like. Anyhow... I've gone off on a tangent. Enjoyed this!
Ah you done it again . Had no idea what to expect if this and that’s how I love it . Weird how the drum beat gives me a groove but I hearingso many other amazing cross rhythms in there . Great listen at 11.43pm on my last night before flying south Thailand ( we at 3.30 am 😵😵)
Mario IS an imperialist! This is great. Grooving to this on the bus has greatly improved the quality of my morning commute. 😀
I'm listening to this ON headphones, how cruel of me! I love the tumbling arps, and the big swoopy sounds over the broken beat later on. I reckon Mario's Princess hunt was just an excuse to visit a shitload of cancels and murder turtles, personally
