Sad and lonesome ,tragic country ballad/story
Stripped back to simple chords and harmonica
9 verses telling a story
An experiment with a certain simple guitar strumming and playing style- only a few chords- i stripped a few
other chord changes away in order to put more focus on the lyrics & storyline.

(Slow country ballad , sad & lonesome )
1.They say he was 20 years married
Hard worker- and a pretty good bloke
I heard he had 2 or 3 kids somewhere
Where they are now – nobody knows .
2. There were whispers of separation and divorce
Lawyers and family screwed him good – and all
But he was starting to get things together
Trying to turn things around
3. He moved a couple of times
But he could never quite settle down
His money – it did run low
He lived in boarding houses for a while
And after that .. well – I just don’t really know
4. I guess his wife and friends stopped caring
He felt he had nothing much to live for anymore
One day he decided to do something about it
He wanted to close the doors
5. He filled his car with a tank full of petrol
And bought a packet of smokes
Some Johnnie Walker whisky
He saw a 'friend' and got a little dope
6.He found a beautiful spot
Way out in the bush
Where he used to go with his family
With beautiful , tall eucalyptus tree’s
And an escarpment with a deep slope
7.He drank the whole bottle
And he nearly fell asleep
He finally numbed all the pain and fear he had
Listened to some music – had a smoke
8.It took a couple of days before he was found
It seemed he drove his car over the incline
He went down, down, down
Took a while to be reported missing
By the time they found his crumpled SUV....
He was history
9. What turns a good life into shit ?
What becomes of those who slip between the cracks ?
How do we change these lives?
How do we help our friends and brothers?
What makes a good life turn to shit ?
Why do we allow our fathers to be disrespected?
How can we change all this ?
I don’t know .
Its just the way it is i guess
