For this FAWM I had a concept of an concept-album inspired by the Slavic folklore Жар-пти́ца (Firebird) and performed by the fictitious band called The Playing Magpies.
Well, this is the first song for their debut LP called "Natalie" and The Playing Magpies are:
Kolya Ilyich Nikolaev - Bass guitar & composing
Nikolina Rudawska - Keys
Jeannette Travers - Composing/Arranging/woodwind instruments
Hans Strom - Drums/percussion
When I planned this idea, there was even more on it. It was supposed to be taken even further with certain time (around late 60's/early 70's, but not literally/realistically) and place (some kind of combination of European cities, located more likely in Eastern Europe) and band members (group of people from different parts of Europe playing some kind of background music for pennies in local joints). The story would had been about the persons in the band and their lives, like in a some sort of musical or something like that but mostly concentrated on relationship between Kolya and Natalie, who is later referred also as Firebird. Because Kolya -> Nikolai and Nikolai is Russian version of my first name, logically.
But then I decided that I couldn't do it alone so I streamlined the concept. Because I can do with this what ever I want, pros of doing stuff alone. 😀

Very nice, it's got like a Vincent Price meets Jacques Brel doing film noir kinda situation. I feel like this tune smokes 3 packs a day and just has very little time to pay attention to your bullshit

Great spooky vibe right off the bat - lots of great stuff going on with the various instrument parts playing off each other and it all fits together really well. Nice job!

Had to listen since Natalie is my granddaughter's name. (She is 22 years old and she IS a brunette!) The instrumentals are very nice. The "story" is intriguing too. Glad I stopped by.
