I would like to revisit this at some point and re-work the lyrics - and maybe add music
I was taught
To always tell the truth
A wolf in sheep’s clothing
Eventually stands naked
One day you’ll get caught
There will always be proof
Soon you will learn
There’s no way to fake it
You thought you could duck
Under the wire
But who’s zoomin’ who?
You’re a Liar Liar
Thought you could easily
Stoke my desire
But I see through you
You’re a Liar Liar
No smoke and mirrors
No obfuscation
Will pull the wool
Over my eyes
Certainty draws nearer
Here’s my declaration
So nix to your tricks
I’m totally wise
Thought you could drag me
Through the mire
But my conscience is clear
You’re a Liar Liar
Thought you would get away with it
I’m preaching to the choir
‘Cause Everyone knows
You’re a Liar Liar

Love the long rhyme scheme with "fake it/naked" and "eyes/wise" - great skirmish!

One of the most hook-y lyric only choruses I’ve read yet!
@airbagtester Feb 11
Somehow I heard this as a punk song. This song reminds me of the way good old fashioned punk music can be brutal in its honesty and call out the hypocrites for what they are. I like that it starts with the wolf in sheep's clothing from the very start. "So nix to your tricks I'm totally wise" is my favorite part. The best kind of righteousness is honesty in the face of deception IMO.

Obfuscation and nix...good grief those are nice words you put in here.
Perfectly utilizing the prompt with great emotion and stance.
Reads well, too.
Def put this to some music, and I'd be curious to hear it!
@tiller2 Feb 11
It's cool that we used the same rhymes (choir/liar) in quite different ways. Yours has a strong "prophetic" message to the dishonest. 'You'll be found out, get your comeuppance.' Good message, well written. (And thanks for the great skirmish topic.)
@jwhanberry Feb 11
I like "nix to your tricks" and "obfuscation declaration". Good rhymes. A good tale by someone who has seen the truth and called it out. I wonder what the music will be. Good skirmish. Thanks for hosting.

I love the literariness of these lyrics; there are some fabulous turns of phrase. And I like the 'who's zoomin' who' quote as well. 'Preaching to the choir' is a great rhyme. Excellent writing!

Very strong lyrics and cool story telling. Great job on the skirmish title. Thank you for an interesting subject I wouldn't have tried otherwise. Very interesting to see so many different takes on it. You continue to inspire so many!

This opens really strong with your first few lines and leads into a great lyric. The start of the chorus is really effective too. Well crafted lyric with a clear liar in the midst!
@lvgd09 Feb 10
Yes, and the liar has been exposed. Nice write and I'm sure it will become a good song. I got into this skirmish 40 minutes late probably should have released my lyrics only. That said, your lyrics are better than mine. Great job on this!
@hakk Feb 10
This is a true description of a lyer. There is no doubt that you have met one! Clever, long distance rhyming between the first and second verse. I can see the naked wolf! "Wool over my eyes" later in the song relates, probably accidently, to sheep's clothing. I'd love to hear it with music!
@keithcuts Feb 10
you got some good "liar" rhymes in there. not so easy to do. an alanis morisettish vibe to it. rise up!
@berni1954 Feb 10
"No smoke and mirrors
No obfuscation
Will pull the wool
Over my eyes" 👏👏👏
I hope someone picks up on this and puts it to music. Keep me posted if they do, please.
@markg Feb 10
Nix to your tricks is my favorite line.
@coolparadiso Feb 10
I guess like you say there are only so many rhymes but youve done a good job here! I like the no smoke and mirrors and wow obsuscation, nice one!
@chipwithrow Feb 10
Excellent rhymes! Yes, this deserves music.
(I remember Who's Zooming Who - Aretha, right?)
@cindyrella Feb 10
Great and I love the who's zooming who!
