Written in the style of Hank Williams. Likely inspired by the melody line in a Mandolin Orange song - "Lonely All the Time." I had a lot of fun with recording this one and felt like a one-man Soggy Bottom Boys.
The kitchen sink is getting full,
The plates and glasses piled high.
She ate my food and drank my drink,
She took everything, but left the kitchen sink.
By candlelight we shared a meal,
But to her phone her eyes did steal.
She threw her plate upon the floor,
Before I knew it, she had ran right out the door.
I sat and stared, resenting her,
Then I opened up my dishwasher.
Turned over a plate, and what did I see?
The label said, "please hand-wash me."
I've learned my lesson, that's a fact,
Now I don't mind if my lovers dine and dash.
I won't have no dishes anymore,
'Cause my plates and cups and heart are Styrofoam.
The kitchen sink, no longer full,
The pile is in the landfill now,
She can eat my food and drink up all my drink,
I don't need it, she can take my kitchen sink,
No, I don't need it, she can take my kitchen sink.
