1 week folk pop indie banjo-lele
Writing in February in Chicago makes all the demons come out sometimes. For me, it's also a marker of time of how long I've lived in Chicago. I was only going to give it 2 years. It's now been 6 that have wizzed passed my face. Time is very bent here. Still feeling a little lost.
Verse 1:
I never thought I'd stay
to see the skyline change
and cover everything
that gave me faith
I heard the church bells ring
the train like an ocean wave
the morning sun invading
my sleeping...in
Chorus 1:
I cast out the things
that made me feel safe
for they had no place
they gave me no grace
But I only made
just enough space
for you and me
Verse 2:
I painted the walls green
to give me some hope for spring
I heard the windows break
below freezing
I wrap myself in clothing
you bought for me in loving
the gift of your soul
hangs like a ghost
haunting...me
Chorus 2:
I cast out the things
that I didn't need
for they had no place
gave me no grace
but I only made
just enough space
for part of me
Bridge:
Did I make a mistake?
Holding on for so long
I used to move right along, right along, right along,
move right along
but now I can't escape
without my heart pulled from my chest
what a mess
Chorus 3:
I cast out the things
that didn't make me feel brave
for they had no place
gave me no grace
But I only made
just enough space
for me x2
I only made
just enough space
for me

Okay, now i'm just envious of your lyric writing skill. Wow! Beautiful expressive singing too. You're very talented.

Wonderful song, with the banjolele making it just different enough to really stand out. The build at the bridge continued through the final chorus is a great touch.

So well-written and conceived, and even more inspiring is how dynamically performed! Very cathartic even just in the listening. Love the relation this emotional journey bears to the title without explicit mention in the song.

Banjolele brought me here, the tune made me stay.
You have a great tone on your singing. I like the way you have added some background noise on choruses. Bridge blew me away.
Great job, I really liked listening this one!
