This is song 3 from the morph 3 chain of the morph challenge (https://fawm.org/forums/topic/8806/).
@johncrossman kicked things off with a McCartney-tinged 80s pop (complete with character names out of the McCartney name-book) - https://fawm.org/songs/90589/
@seemanski then morphed it into a Lemonheads-inspired 90s rock jam - https://fawm.org/songs/91687/
and then it was my turn. I couldn't do 200 bpm, that much was certain. So I changed the chords, but in the process blacked out some of the lyrics too and rearranged the rest so it made sense to me.
the logic of chronology pointed to a naughties boy-band version and I imagined it so clearly - it would start with the two note motif (Oh babe-babe) from Britney Spears' Baby One More Time, it would feature pesky synths and hunky boys singing their hearts out in sweet mellow-dies.
unfortunately, I took a wrong turn about the Y96, and ended up in the 70s.
I may have morphed the previous song in the chain more than 50% but I plead beginner's ignorance. It's my first year doing this challenge and the Auntie Sin one, and I may have mixed them up a bit.
This is also the closest I have come to a skirmish (I have yet to do one of THOSE) - this was written and recorded in an hour and a half - so it's pretty raw.
I believe @roelvanveldt is next in line. Please have a look at the chords and words below and have fun! (bpm 110)
D Bb D F#
I woke up early this morning
couldn’t get out of bed
An open window is calling
But it’s not enough. Never enough
I tried to muster the longing
to drag myself up, go for a cup
But I could hear no one calling
And it was too tough, not strong enough
A G D F#
Oh, we get wasted, then we lie down
A G D D#dim
Pretend to rebel but stay underground
It’s time to choose yourself
I try to go back go sleep
But sleep refuses to come
I’ve got a brand new pill
But it’s not enough . Never enough
Oh, why get wasted only to come round
Jump down the well but refuse to drown
It’s time lose yourself
Bm A G G (x3) F#
Chorus 1 + 2
