Lucky Five

by @alg123

1 week   banjo clawhammer acoustic-one-take folk oldtimey

Liner Notes

This one may have more oomph in in a higher key but leaving it here for now. Still sorting out the timing. My friends and family would 'get' this song - If anyone has specific feedback as to whether there is something here, a story or an evocation, or if it would need more (later down the road when I get to editing!) I'd appreciate it.

Lyrics

Lucky Five

I was born
The fifth of five
Fifth of five
Last in line
Been the baby all of my life

Roly-poly
Bitty butterball
Bitty butterball
A biscuit doll
Baby gets big and the cradle falls

Chorus:
Last in line
Fifth of five
One of a kind
Lucky five

Alone in the nest
Last one left
Some went east
Some went west
Baby stayed home and did her best

The bough did break
All that weight
Looking for
A loving embrace
Baby left home on a northbound train

I like the bit of a pause in the verse between second and third line. Nice claw hammer. Great song!
