Decided to try the Hank Williams in Hell challenge, just because I wanted permission to use only three chords, and it seemed like an interesting challenge, too, honest.
Chord sequence goes like this
I I IV IV
V V I V
IV V V IV
IV V V I
I V IV V
IV IV V V
IV I IV V
V IV IV I
V IV IV V
V I I I
V V V IV
IV IV IV V
It's called Gibraltar Hill because I decided, for no good reason at all, to go to google maps and look for a street in Lincoln as a place to set it, and it had the right number of syllables, and was a pretty nice old lane.
I added a bridge just because.
It was quite useful to do, I might try it again.
Sorry for the mistakes in the playing, but well, you know how it is...............
From within the silence that I made
I lived a while on Gibraltar Hill
heard the wind sing all night long
seems even it had heard you'd gone
Everywhere the leaves have been lost
they just fell when the winter came to call
and the old walls crack a little more
as the sun barely melts the ice at all
Seems the only way to get through this
is to forget the days now gone and wish
and I wish I wish I wish I could make
those old days into days not yet lived
There's a spire, and a prayer, and a choir
close to the sky where the ground is higher
and I saw them chasing angels away
as they ran through the night like a fire
And the thorns upon the trees grew sharp
and the the wood is hard beneath the ice
and the breaking of those chains was good
though I knew it would end in pain like this
