(Man of exploration: Lord Captain Commander)
Shem Gagil was born in 2182 in Sri Lanka during the civil war that
embroiled the nation for nearly 10 years. His parents would be eventual
victims of the conflict, leaving Shem orphaned by age 2. Becoming a ward of the Indian Empire, he was enrolled in the local children’s military academy where he excelled in both his physical and mental examinations. At age 16 Shem became the youngest ever Cadet accepted into the Space Force Training program and was assigned his first tour of duty (surveying the icy surface of Europa for usable fissures in the ice) three days after his 17th birthday.
While on the icy moon, Shem broke protocol and commandeered a mini-sub in order to rescue the crew of a submarine scanning vessel that had itself broken protocol by diving too deep, becoming wedged in one of the countless great crevices that characterized the rocky bottom of the moon-wide ocean. After serving four months of confined labor on Mars, Shem applied to become a crew member for one of the Space Force’s twelve great flagships.
