my contribution to the "Fake It" challenge by @metalfoot
The wood blocks/glock is a nice touch. The pattern on the guitar almost recalls the peanuts theme. This captures a nice disjointed feel.
I really like the xylophone. Interesting to hear it paired with the guitar but it works. Really nice phrasing. Great job!
Beautiful instrumentation! I really, really like this version. Not sure what the heck you did in the bridge, but that dissonance is perfect.
your chorus is really interesting, and that bass sounds great!
Such a cool song! I like how raw and warm the song is at the same time and the combination of all sounds! Well done! I enjoyed listening to this piece 😀
This is a different one from you and I have to say I think it's one of my favorite. Felt the emotion coming through and very well performed! Great work, Andy!
Reminds me a bit of Tom Waits. Great quirky simplicity.
Wow, very different. I love the instrumentation, and unique vocal delivery to this one. I really like seeing the different interpretations of Metalfoot's lyrics and chords. Those final base strums get really dark and ominous. Well done!
Bass arpeggios are inspired! Nice interpretation of the Challenge 😀
This is very affecting. The choice of instrumentation and their timbres and associated feelings is great. It sets up a compelling contrast between the woody cheerfulness of the xylo with the organic bottom of that base. And the flattish vocalizations of such pain evoke a the numbness that often follows a big loss. Well done, my friend.
Chorus is alternately dark and thoughtful, much like the rest of the song, a really nice combination.
I love that you used the bass as the primary instrument, sounds so good. The... vibes? sound good, too. Give it a nice feel. Another good take on the challenge. Yours has a relaxed feel that intimate the lyric a little differently than some of the others.
this is great! i love the sound and the vibe.
Bass and Xylophone..how cool
All are so different. Love it!
Such great instrumentation, and your verby, half spoken vocals are perfect for the mood. Nice job.
Though the Instrumentation/production is quite different from what I used, I feel like this very closely approximates where I went with this track is well, though of course you were first. *high 5*
Really cool vibe to this. I like what you’ve done.
This just leaps right out from the starting gate and keeps going. The arrangement is really great. It's been a nice treat to see how others have interpreted this song.
Nice Andy. Enjoyed this. So different from the others. Definitely had that Leonard Cohen feel. Unique arrangement too.
I don't recall you doing anything like this - maybe it was the prompt, which I guess I missed. But you wrote yourself a love lost/break-up song here!
I love the instruments here - like the Violent Femmes are backing you! I like this one a lot.
Love the instrumentation Andy! I appreciate the sentiment and your choice of imagery.
Brave work..to sing and play that standup bass
,ove th xylophone
I really love the xylophone. I agree with @factorytale ...spooky Leonard Cohen sound. Lyrics are simple but solid. Good job
A totally different version, a bit leonard cohenish and a bit spooky. But I do like it.
Oh, this is a fun rendition indeed! Nice job with the lyrics!
