I decided to make a few unusual pieces this year.
I bought a cheap music box from Amazon (goo.gl/oBcmZj - £25, comes with 20 blank strips and 18 pre-printed songs) to play my composition on from hand-punched card.
This is my first attempt and, with a few artifacts (a couple of missed notes, some expected transposition and a BIG speed difference) I think it came out OK for a bit of 18th century technology wielded by a nincompoop with silly ideas!
The website I used to compose the melody was Onlinesequencer.net (you can find my composition at onlinesequencer.net/1038315)
This is gently edited to loop once, increase the tempo slightly and add a small degree of stereo and depth, and mildly decrease the sound of the crank handle. It's not "straight out the box", but it's not heavily effected, and I didn't perform any quantising of the audio as that seemed to be against the general form. It's bloody hard to get the tempo constant, mind you.
