This one came about this afternoon for a few reasons
1 - I've restrung my little parlour guitar in Nashville tuning, and this chord progression worked really nicely.
2 - I wanted to try the single mic recording challenge (mine's not an SM57/58 though, it's an elderly Beyer).
3 - I fancied having a go collaborating with a lyricist who also sings.
4 - I'm happy to mix, rework, tweak and produce a finished song if I find a volunteer for #3.
5 - I also wanted to do something fairly simple and supply the stems for remix or sampling to hear how far others might take this one.
The stems are in a zip file here:
It's at 110bpm 4/4
A music (verse) progression (the maj7 chords are major 7 NOT dominant 7):
Amaj7 / / / | Cmaj7 / / / | x4
B music (chorus) progression:
E / G / | D / A / | E / C / | D / / / |
E / G / | D / A / | C / / / | D / / / |
The guitars and bass on this demo were recorded in my living room along to a click track with the mic running through an M-Audio Black Box guitar FX unit acting as a USB recording interface into Reaper. The drums were then added later in Reaper on my studio PC. Bass and guitars were running through my home-made bass amp into a Crate 4 x 12 cab.
@ballyhoot has kindly done loads of work on this, so a new version coming soon.
However, I'm open to multiple versions of this song being done, so feel free if you fancy having a stab yourself. 😊😎🎸🎸🎸
