This is the reason I have time to write songs this year and also the reason why I'm in so much pain.
The demo didn't come out as I originally envisioned it. I think I was singing it to the tune of "The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny" and then it turned into something else. But I think it works, even if it's a bit slower than I thought.
I was going to add bass and electric guitar lead, but once I'd done the chords, five Pookas singing harmony and a few tracks with my electric drum kit (which I specifically set up for FAWM), I just thought, "there, that'll do."
If it makes it onto an album or something, then I'd need to re-record the vocals, probably when my face is fixed and I'm no longer looking or sounding like something out of The Mummy Returns.
Well, I once was at work and feeling weak
The lights weren't on and it was all quite bleak
I was wishing I could go home and go back to bed
But I didn't see the stairs as I checked my head
And I tripped and I fell and I hit the first one
And I thought I would stop, but I just carried on
I felt this terrible pain in my quadriceps
And the rest of me, too, as I went down the steps
Step one, step two
I was quite surprised
Step three, step four
Then I realised
Step five, step six
I would hit the dirt
Step seven, step eight
And I would be hurt
Step nine, step ten
Would I break my crown?
Step eleven, step twelve
As I tumbled down
Step thirteen, step fourteen
Break my arm?
Or some serious harm...
Then I landed on the floor and I fell on my face
And a big pool of blood began to spread from the place
And the shock wore off as the pain really started
And an ambulance was called and so I departed
Then some questions were asked and kind words were spoken
And I woke up in Barts and my whole face was broken
And I had big puffy cheeks, bruised eyes and smashed nose
And a blow to my thigh that bloomed red like a rose
Then I got out of work like I wanted at first
But I didn't quite realise it would be the worst
But an accident isn't my fault - things just went wrong
But at least I can recall it and recount it in song
