Saideira Do Sol
Liner Notes
This is the first one I've done in Portuguese for this FAWM. I started writing songs in Portuguese about 6 years ago, and they still feel like beginner songs to me. The fun thing about writing songs in a second language is that you get to write like a child again with limited vocabulary and limited knowledge of cultural cliches without all the baggage that comes attached to being a native to a language. #acousticonetake
Lyrics
(I dance in my mind waiting forever where I left you behind)
no pensamento confortavel que a vida vai provavel mente me voltar à lugar
(in the comfortable thought that life will probably return me there)
(like old wood to the beach with just a goodbye to sing to the sun)
desejo que você esteja comigo la
(I wish you would be there with me)
(I life alone and if it's just a little dream I can't tell if its real)
(I don't know if I listened while the truth was wisely kept hidden from me)
(with a fool's confidence on a subterranean stage where moon doesn't shine)
(like old wood to the beach with just a goodbye to sing to the sun)
desejo que você esteja comigo la
(I wish you would be there with me)

hey mark, well the guitar is a 10 string Brazilian guitar called a viola caipira. I am making these songs from central Brazil where I'm living (here on a Fulbright scholarship) to study this instrument!
Portuguese is a beautiful sounding language, I wish I could speak it, let alone sing it. Such a great hypnotic performance on this, too. Love how sparkly the guitar sounds, it really complements your voice.
The chord progressions are recognizable but not stock. I don't know how you mic'd the guitar but it also sounds sparkly and lovely.
