The final song of FAWM! How to sum up an incredible month- impossible really. So much creativity, ridiculously late nights, and great fun getting to know a wonderful community of songwriters.
Surfacing for me, represents emerging from the all consuming world of FAWM back to normal life.
This song is mostly instrumental, with just a two line coda. I used two different drum kits- an electronic kit in the first half, then a normal kit from Logic alongside the electronic kit in the second half after the breakdown. There are no synths on this track. All these sounds bar the drum machine and vocal are created with guitars and bass using the wonderful Line 6 FM4 filter modeller pedal. The two guitar lines that run throughout for me sound like being underwater, and fit the theme of the song - emerging from the depths of an immersive experience.

The well might run dry, but we just keep on going
