Song 13... and I promised myself I wouldn’t do this - no, look, really, you have to believe me.
No matter how close I got to the FAWM finish-line: if I found myself totally out of ideas, I would not, repeat not, repeat NOT, resort to writing a “meta-song” about having ran totally out of ideas, and all the silly things I would do to try and solve the problem, and how I hope you like it anyway.
All I can say is: sometimes, I suspect the universe thinks I’m an easy mark...
Recorded rather quickly and roughly on my TASCAM DP-006 four-track digital “pocketstudio”, with baritone (Caramel CB402) and soprano (Flight TUS35) ukuleles, and finished off in Grand Finale and Twisted Wave on my iPhone.
And, for what it’s worth: I hope you like it anyway 😜
(P.S. I spotted that this song could probably fit the criteria for the Week 3 challenge ("Word Painting" - i.e. where the music and lyrics sometimes mirror each other, so I ticked that box!)
I made a promise to myself
Of something to avoid
Which I’m now up to
The temptation to succumb
Became too great to bear
And so I’m writing
Another quick song to you
With a pretty seventh chord
And one more immediately after
I can think of nothing dafter
But I love to see you smile
The second verse will need a lift
Though I won’t change the chords
But add a ukulele
That inversion does the trick
No, I really think it does
As we’re both grinning
Another quick song to you...
