The twenty-seventh song for this challenge. There comes a time in our lives when we look at someone we used to know and realize how much they've changed. Or, in a sense, failed to change. While some grow in their positions, stature, or social life, some remain stagnant, failing to live up to their own or others' expectations. It could be from a lack of putting themselves out there. It could be too many times burned and more times shy. But they choose to remain content in their lethargy, becoming somewhat apathetic in the process. Apathetic to growing. Apathetic to sticking their hands in the flame once more. Apathetic to even try again. It's disappointing, to say the least.
Demo coming soon, in the meantime, enjoy!
I tried my best to make you see
The blood of the future coursing through me
And I’m sailing on it like the roaring Red Sea
But you’re on the shore waiting for me to come back
Well, you’ve got a lot of nerve acting like that
I want so badly to make you listen
But your face is like stone with a mindless expression
Are you taking me seriously? Or is your head missing?
Or do I step on you like a brand new welcome mat?
Well, you’ve got a lot of nerve talking like that
And it’s hard not to notice the work you put in
Amounting to nothing but needles in skin
It’s any wonder my hours are bottles of gin
And running in circles trying to keep you in check
You’ve got a lot of nerve acting like that
