I read something recently that said the key to a good life is to lose yourself in something, anything really. While this took way too much effort and time to lose myself in, the sentiment is a good one.
I worked on this for what felt like (and for FAWM, was) an eternity. I felt like I had something with the intro, as that stayed mostly unchanged from when I laid it down on the 12th. Like so many tracks, I thought, "well this one's basically done." Here we are weeks later and finally releasing it into the wild.
I challenged myself to write something happy, and this is definitely more on the happy side of things I do. I really wanted to use Mutable Instruments Plaits on this as I am an idiot and found out that it does soooo much more than what I thought it did. People rave about this thing and I was like, eh. I'm starting to get it... I know I've only scratched the surface (a little deeper now) but I still think I believed the hype a bit more than I should have. So the two plinky melody lines are Plaits' Granular formant oscillator algorithm. Vocals are mine run through a vocoder and some distortion. Everything else was Reason 10. Threw Waves Submarine on there just to play with it, I probably used it totally wrong but I'll get better with the old sub bass over time.
you don't have to not lose yourself
