Wow! so that happened... I've been working so hard during FAWM that my computer's battery swelled up and busted through the body. On Sunday Feb 21 my computer went on strike and on Feb 22 I took it to the old Apple Store to have it fixed and it will take them most likely 2 weeks to repair it. I cannot be without a computer for 2 weeks so I bought a new one (temporarily) and will return it when my fixed computer comes back.

When I was setting up my new computer it turned out that my Time Machine Backup was Corrupt (FML!). However, because I have been burned in the past I have contingency backup plans in place. So I have basically been attempting to get my computer back to the way I like it using my Backblaze contingency back up solution. It's not as elegant as Time Machine, because time machine is great...all you do is push a button and your computer is restored exactly where you left it. With Backblaze you have to download all the files and then manually place them in the designated areas to get your computer back to where it was. This is incredibly time consuming, frustrating and exhausting. I'm still working on it 😞.

The bright side is that I didn't lose anything...I just need to get it back to where it was. I also had to reinstall all of my 3rd party plugins which is a total rabbit hole as each company has a different download method/activation method. (AHHHHHHHHH!)

So anywho...My replacement computer is about 85% back to normal and I managed to knock out this song on Feb 24.

On this one I experimented a lot with sound design, imaging, depth and filtering. My Phobia is losing my data, but it's a healthy phobia as it has made me a real freak when it comes to backing up and backing up the backup and backing up the contingency backup.

If you are not already doing it...BACK UP YOUR STUFF and BACKUP YOUR BACKUP! You will thank me when the inevitable crash occurs...because it will occur...you just don't know when.

  What a nightmare and terrible timing! So glad you didn't lose anything. I'm feeling inspired to back up my stuff now. Love all the moving, panning parts in this. The glitchy cymbals are great and your filtering is impressive. It's almost hard to tell if some of those sounds are vocal samples or heavily effected synths, which is so cool to me.

  I just started backing up with iDrive. The price was right. Desktop is my main thing. But I have a laptop I for mobile needs that I could get by on (I think). I don't envy you these troubles. I will get another back up soon. Thanks for the advice. Love the song, the arps are crazy!

  Wow, such an awful story, I can relate with the phobia of loosing your data. I love how at the beginning it really sounded like an operating system booting up. I enjoy the contrast between different sections, and how the sound travels from ear to ear. I'm glad that I listened to it with my headphones 😀
