I met Mary last year when she used all my zecoopdrums in her amazing theatre production "Mat Leave - The Musical". We've become good friends and I really enjoy her creativity, talent and humor. We wanted to do a proper collaboration this year and when I looked at my folders, I saw that I had written a song on piano and electric piano the very first day of FAWM, but forgotten to do anything with it. I added drums and sent it over. Luckily, Mary liked it and immediately had some ideas on harp.
So then we went back and forth about ideas for the topic. She had gotten a bit of a noir feel and since I love the old B/W noir movies, we went with that. I suggested a conversation that sounds normal on one side but sinister on the other. Mary asked me "Could you tell me a household cleaner for serious stains?" and suggested a story that was perfect. (had to be a cleaner that was around in the 1950's, so I came up with Ajax (1947) and Formula 409 (1957). 😀
This song was probably the most fun I have had all FAWM and as a bonus Mrs ZeCoop was gracious enough to join as our Operator! Huge thanks to my lovely wife and to Mary who was the mastermind of this story. I had fun adding to it. 😀

I can’t tell you how excited I am by this song! After getting to know John last year, I really wanted to work with him on something together this year, but he is a man in high demand! When John sent the original track over, the harp line immediately sang out to me, there was nothing else it could be, it had to be that. But the fun had only just begun! To be given free reign with where to take this was thrilling, (well, Market was non-negotiable...) and as we batted ideas back and forth across the pond, this became the perfect story to tell. (We also have ajax over here so that helped!) I’m delighted that this features the voices of both Mr AND Mrs Zecoop, that was the icing on the cake! (Fellow Brits will understand the extreme difficulty I had to not roll my "r"s in the chorus... the struggle is real!)

Ohhhhh.... this is really delicious nostalgic noir feel and so much fun! What a quirky song..... I love the music - the piano and harp are wonderful. The chorus is very catchy and the spoken bits are awesome. Poor dear is in bit of deep doo-doo it seems...

Jah!!! sorry i forgot to mention the harp. Is that real harp? its the perfect instrument to reply to the keyboard and works a treat. I would love a mini harp one day although wouldn't have a clue where to start with playing it 😉

Well firstly I am in desperate need of some Ajax!! 😉 . Am actually glad its not about the dutch football team 😉 . I love the sound of your vocals on the chorus and well done for not rolling your R's. Musically i love the drive and flow of this one John. The electric piano works a treat and its oh so well produced. Really really clever with the dialogue. I simply have no idea how you've done this. OOOOo dark and brilliant guys. Well done

This is excellent. The tone of the voice of the complainant is beautifully clipped - just hits the right mark!
Love the song, love the whole concept. Musically lush - the harp is superb, there should be more harp in all music - and vocally (and lyrically) delightful.

Fantastic. I can't believe I waited this long to listen. There needs to be a movie! It's all there!
The dialog is fantastic. Also the music -- the basic groove is great, and the "There's been a murder" bit is luminous.
Love the harp answering the various keyboard parts.

What fantastic fun! Well done guys for creating this piece of wonder. Lovely Lady Macbeth vibe to the voice acting, and the music is awesome. The harp really works as an instrument of menace. Who'd have thought it!
