The Silent Hill franchise is my favourite horror game series and this is my small tribute. One day I will have them all again, and a playstation retro enough to play them!
Really cool and creepy! I like how suspense builds gradually throughout the song. It's also cool how the big thunks and little clunks and rattles and those buzzes are like sort of familiar sounds but you keep wondering what is making them. I haven't played any of the Silent Hill games, but I know them by reputation and this soundscape matches that reputation in my head. Excellent stuff!
I haven't played the games and generally not a fan of horror (but kind of like the music from it for some reason).
That glitchy backing is fun and a little unnerving, but I think it really gets creepy when the big crunchy footsteps start (or possibly a very large clock ticking) and what seemed a little unnerving first time round feels positively comforting when it returns. The little whooses in the final stanza are particularly effective on headphones, and when you just had the big footstep sounds on their own, I swear, I could feel the movement of them. Yep - 9am was the correct time to listen to this. Many hours of daylight ahead...
Intriguing aural journey through threatening landscapes.
From the ambiance of this one, I am guessing that "Silent Hill" is a game on the lines of "Alone in the Dark" - a video game from the 90s that had me terrified and fascinated and was the first one to show me the potential of the genre. I imagine the graphics have improved since then. I am amazed that people find time to play video games. Time flies so fast at my age that I never have time to be bored (especially during FAWM 😁)
A very fitting tribute. This has 'survival horror' written all over it. Although the last few seconds leave me uncertain as to the 'survival' part.
The dynamics and layering give a palpable sense of the situations the player finds themselves in - suspiciously empty rooms, the ebb and flow of danger, the lingering menace of something _troublingly_ big, and perhaps the cruel fate that video games dish out with much more appetite (and frequency!) than reality...
It made me think of a portal that channels apparitions like a factory makes cars. The apparitions to me were the horror sound that starts left and moves right, as if it were going off to haunt something. Cool track.
Wow. I know nothing of this series, but I'm intrigued and drawn in deeply to the ominous yet seductive vibe....unti...the black widow spider eats her lover!
On the tech I really love how you have your instruments panned. Cinematic, clean and spacious. Great job!
ha ha. I never played the silent hill games series, but this has definitely put the wiggles into me. Its actually beautifully melodic and you feel kind of safe with the melody, then WOOOOSHHH, I am crapping myself!! Love the way you bring the simple melody back with everything else going on. Ok now i need to watch a comedy 😉

Heck, yes. This is bang on the money. I can just picture it! Especially at the echoey footsteps section. Great sound choices, fantastic composition.
