Feb 19 girl-with-harp boy-with-guitar harmonies duet
@emkaydeebee ---> I was so chuffed when Alex suggested we do something together, I mean, what an honour to perform with such a king of the collab! When he sent me his beautiful vocals and guitar, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it, I couldn't have asked for more - it was everything I hoped it would be. I really wanted it to sound like a genuine duet, and @metalfoot's lyrics allowed that to happen. I added harp over his strummed guitar, with out any added effects - this is all natural baby! (Which means, Alex that we could one day perform this live...π )
@metalfoot ---> Wouldn't it be nice to perform this live, Mary?
I just want to say -- This is one of my favourite collabs ever. Mary took what was an OK song and made it magical with her duet lines and harp playing. Just WOW. I have always loved the harp as an instrument and I feel blessed to have gotten to work with @emkaydeebee on this song. Let's do this again soon, okay?
Once again the sound I hear
Is the echo of footsteps leaving
For all that I tried to make clear
All I feel is my heart grieving
Though I wanted you to stay
You chose to leave instead
And now inside on looped replay
Are all the questions in my head
Once again the salt I taste
Is from the teardrops on my face
For all I tried you still made haste
All I know is my lonely place
Though I wanted you to stay
You chose to leave instead
And now inside on looped replay
Are all the questions in my head
I once thought you were the one
We had our days in the sun
Now the clouds have come again
Pretty soon it's going to rain
Though I wanted you to stay
You chose to leave instead
And now inside on looped replay
Are all the questions in my head

You two sound great together. This really is an emotional song in no small part due to both of your vocal performances.

really nice collab! the duo vocals work so well with the lyrical content, and this is really one of those 'bigger then the sum of its parts' things.. excellent work, both of you!

Another download! The lyrics are enhanced by the boy/girl alternatives, indeed conjures up not one losing it but both, through misunderstandings. The harp and harmonies boost this, I can't imagine it without. Applause!

Best breakup song ever, "looped replay / all the questions" is a direct hit on the emotional aftermath of a big breakup. Your vocals play well together!

Great vocals; I like how they move from matching to response and back. Lovely melody for them to use too.

I love your voices together! This has a wonderful folk revival sound. I don't hear much harp on FAWM, and it's a real treat. So gorgeous! I really like this chord progression as well. Excellent collab, both.

This is GREAT! I like the separation of lyrical content on the first two lines of the chorus to enforce that thatβs the only difference between the two sides of this duet, and all the other lines are common experiences for the duetters.
This is reinforced by the way you two made an excellent blend of your instrumentation and your melody/harmony lines.

I hope that both of you wore thin leather head-bands and fringey things when you recorded this! Nice Job!

Beautiful! I love the echo on the chorus (and the harmonies, of course). The images (the echoes, the salt) seem commonplace, but are used so effectively here.

A beautiful collab/duet - vocal and instrumental, that harp adds a perfect extra musical interest to the guitar and to the the sad love story. Enjoyed much. Worthy of a "fave" indeed. Great job.

You two make such beautiful harmony. I've seen so much evidence of metalfoot's compositional skill, and it's definitely on display here, but hearing it have the chance to be supported and bolstered by the instrumentation and additional vocals helps showcase it in its full splendour.
The harp is heavenly, popping like lilting bubbles.

What a fantastic collaboration! Your voices are a really great match for each other and the harp brings a lovely tone behind the strum.
@kahlo2013 Feb 20
Ohhhh this is absolutely lovely! Your vocals together are absolutely so beautifully matched and the harp and guitar work so well together. I love the lyrics as well - bittersweet and beautiful. This is a wonderful duet!
@billwhite51 Feb 20

@bethyrose Feb 20
This is just beautiful!!
@andygetch Feb 20
This already would have been a sweet enough collab, and oh that harp just took the song to another level. Well done!
@zecoop Feb 19
Wow! A real live duet that completely sounds like you were in the living room composing and then recorded together. Lovely lyrics, awesome playing and a true duet. This truly is a perfect FAWM collab. One of the best ever - just so good. Floored, but shouldn't be considering the FAWMers! π

Killer harp and your vocals sound brilliant together...this is really lovely.
