Liner Notes

In his new found reflective self Wendell tries to understand how he came to be as he is - and what impact he will have in turn. He realises he has always, to some extent, lived his parents version of his life rather than forging his own.

Lyrics

The moral perspective
Of the generation gone
Is a constant question
Of right and wrong
Anomalies in thinking
And in deed
Challenge me
Those boundaries that were
Set when I was young
Were they a compass or an
Anchor all along
And perhaps
To take the scales from my eyes
I’m waiting for my parents to die

Wendell ponders his life
The victories gained and setbacks
Which were down to him
And how he treated his wife

He thinks about his kids
Laurie and Jenson and the
Way he impacts them
With all the things he did

Confused
Caught between worlds
Wendell unpicks
The dark world
That lurks in his soul
Mixed with the good
Unclean
Betwixt and between
Wendell dissects
All the wise words
That his parents observed
That made him himself

I know I long to be
A better person than I
Ever used to be, a
Better version of me

I find I’m all at sea
I never know if I’ve met
The expectations
People have had of me

Dark and questioning and coming to realizations. Nice work on this one all around again!

This one actually feels more like an epiphany... loving the linking actions of generations...that's so profound.. Awesome job! 😀

Great arrangement - has a Police-like nature which is something really hard to achieve. And the lyrics are no fluff - really thought provoking. Are you sure you don't have a yellow and black striped sweater? (hopefully you get that reference) If not, send me soundboard message and I'll explain.

Another really strong song! Great title and that "Wendell ponders his life" section is really top drawer in particular. Vocals are really great and expressive.

Love the chord progression you’ve got here, and 80’s style production.

A challenging subject, which you explore well (and fairly, I think) throughout. Wendell's immediate realisation that he may be part of the problem was well played; the medium only affords us limited time, after all. The turn towards inner demons and dark worlds lurking in souls was a litlte unexpected, but it worked - the transition seemed natural, and I appreciate the change in direction. Kept the song interesting.

    this is really fantastic...
    wow...something about your voice...
I love this and hope to make it through the whole album when I get my
    fourteen in...

A great uptempo number. Really like the guitar sound in the verses. The changes of pace are really well-judged and work really well. The bass in particular does a great job around the pick-up in pace. This might be one of my favourites...!

with a title like this I had to listen. Loved the bridge section in particlar here from: 'confused...) and the contrast to the rest of the song, the choice of production here fits in well with his confused and perhaps regretful thinking

Loving your concept album. Really clever. This is right on. I like how your lyrics are unapologetic. Your style is a great throw back.

I love all the vintage stuff I'm finding on FAWM, and this is la creme de la creme.

Very existential. Love the 80’s new wave vibe. Good character writing.
