Call this a whole bunch of experimentation. I have been working on a couple approaches to the week 2 challenge. For this one I tried to build a song on 3 power chords, each a step apart (in this case F#5, G#5, A#5). In hindsight, I was bottoming out on vocals and probably should have set it at A or Bb to start.
I got to use Zecoop drums for the first time this year. That is always fun.
Monkeyed around with presents on my Zoom Gx1ON multi effects pedal till I found effects for guitar and bass that were suitably weird. Lyrics and vocals came last. At this time of year, and stuck at home the thought of a -40 night drive doesn't sound so bad... I think the vocals could use even more delay and some kind of otherworldly effect, but it's time to FAWM on.

On a January night drive
Headlights stream into the sky
Can’t be hypnotized by the Northern Lights
Eyes always peeled for black ice.
Only 80 miles to food and fuel
Home is half the night away
Only fools and lovers would be out
On a night like this
40 below by any scale
I guess that I am a bit of both
Some things just can’t be done by mail
Only 60 miles to food and fuel
Home still half the night away
Mind plays tricks on you in the cold
Snakes appear to be writhing on the road
Shadows seem like people in the trees
Can’t tell the road from the night or dark from light
Knuckles white on the wheel
As the cold radiates through the steel.
Passing rigs raise a cloud of fog
Blinding as a dance hall strobe
Eyes never accustomed to the dark
Have to guess at where’s the road
Only 20 miles to food and fuel
Home’s never been so far away
Just a few miles and I can rest my eyes
Hope that I’ll be home by day.
