Ran over time on the Skirmish, due to technical difficulties. I had written the entire song by 40 minutes, but recording it took an age.
This experience has made me further in awe of people who manage to arrange their skirmish songs. I did this one on "Band in a Box" because it sounded too thin with just a solo instrument and I wanted you to hear it as close to how I heard it in my head as BIAB can do it.
I am (D) not the guy I'd really like to (G) be
I've a (Em) vision of myself in fanta(A)sy
That (D) barely matches the reali(Bm)ty
But I'd sure (G) like to fulfil (A) my capaci(D)ty
I'm not (Bm)perfect, but I'm (G)working on (D) it
Not the (Bm) ideal guy that you'd (A) like me to be
Sometimes I (Bm) wonder, how you put (D) up with me
I'm not (G) perfect, but I'm (A) working on (D) it
I've got an evil temper, that I know
I hold on to things when I really should let go
Every criticism I take as a blow
And I know that makes you feel so low
I con(Em)tinue the work cause I don't (D)want to lose
The (Em) partner of my dreams I would (D)always choose.
I (Bm) want to see you smile, not be (D) lost in the blues
(A) Giving up's an option that I simply refuse
I'll take every path I need to make the change
Every scheme you recommend no matter how strange
I have so much to gain in the exchange
I'm not thinking short term but long range.
