Re-worked lyric, needs a melody and female vocal.
DORIAN GRAY
INTRO
She was introduced and then seduced.
To a vision of a man.
Became a trampled supplecant.
A blip in his attention span.
VERSE
But she survived the banquet.
Her eyes now need a rest.
Every girl who looks at him.
Think that they are blessed.
But they don’t see the truth of it.
No they just see the sheen.
His face is like a camouflage.
If you know what I mean.
CHORUS
Oh,Dorian Gray you look so clean.
Are you a ghost in the machine?
Or some shiny brand new magazine.
I don’t know where you belong.
With Dorian Gray it’s black or white,
He’s a superficial parasite.
With a picture in his eaves,
So I believe.
VERSE
She heard that he was moving.
Imperiously to the next.
His deceit was cast, a fish was caught.
She saw her in his net.
Don’t expect to see a struggle.
Until she’s in the can.
Of a twisted puppet master
He’s a predatory man.
CHORUS
Oh, Dorian Gray you look so clean.
Are you a ghost in the machine?
Or some shiny brand new magazine.
I don’t know where you belong.
With Dorian Gray it’s black or white,
He is a superficial parasite.
With a picture in the eaves,
So I believe.
VERSE
All his friends are vacuous.
Succinctly picked by hand.
There to merely countenance.
The picture perfect man.
There are no cracks for them to see.
He’s a vision of their fantasy.
But through his darkened eyes he sees.
Mere vassals in his plan.
REVISED CHORUS
Dorian Gray there is a queue,
Of ladies leading up to you.
You’re a vision of a perfect view.
You’re a fantasy it’s true.
But truth is truth, let it be told.
And although you’re something to behold.
Your ugly picture’s in the eaves,
So I believe.

Oh I loved this book! [Need to re-read it sometime 😝] I love how you weaved it into this lyric! "Are you a ghost in the machine?" is a rad line.

I really enjoyed reading this lyric, it reminded me of when I read the novel several years ago. Looks can definitely be deceiving. Let me know when it's put to music, I'd love to hear it!
