A very late response to a Skirmish prompt. The theme was posted at 3am our time, so I was fast asleep. But I got up at 6:30 this morning, saw the prompt and dashed this off.
My Strumstick helping create the melody and then my Low G Tenor Ukulele doing the actual recording
(Em) It seems we've turned the corner
There is (G) light in the (Em) dark
A glimmer that this gloom one day will (D) end
Over (Em) years of disorder
There (G) hangs a question (Em) mark
This (C) scission in so(D)ciety might (Em) mend
(G) How'd we let it (C) go so far
(Em) Get so out of (Bm) hand?
(G) How'd we let the (C) truth just disa(Bm)ppear?
Dis(G)tinguishing the (C) lies
Is an (Em) existential (Bm) skill
But we (Am) gave in to di(D)vision, hate and (Em) fear.
The (Em) dog has barked, the ROOSTER has crowed
A (G) new day has (Em) dawned
The first rays of the sun peek through dark (D)clouds
(Em) Time to take that other road
The (G) old one's been (Em) pawned
It left (C) nothing but (D) views of angry (Em) crowds
You can (Em) feel it in the air,
If you (G) open your (Em) heart
The spark is set, the flame of hope now (D) burns
To (Em) join in be aware
That it will (G) need a fresh (Em) start
A (C) willingness to (D) heed the lessons (Em) learned
(G) Never had it (C) gone so far
(Em) Got so out of (Bm) hand
(G) Driven by the (C) scent of hate and (Bm) fear
But we've (G) pulled back from the (C) brink
There is (Em) change in the (Bm) air
It's (Am) time for a new (D) rainbow to ap(Em)pear.
