Lyrics

I KNOW YOU USED TO LOVE ME

I know you used to love me.
You said so in our vows.
But endless days and nights together
Have filtered that somehow.
I know you used to love me.
So it’s a bitter blow.
Please hear me out just one more time
Before you have to go.

We are living separate lives
In this cake of our own making.
You were the sugar, me the spice.
In this thing that we were baking
I guess we thought that happiness
Would always, always last
But we’re a boat without a mast.
A yacht without a sail.
And I love you more than ever.
To no avail

I know you used to love me.
You said so in our vows.
But endless days and nights together
Have filtered that somehow.
I know you used to love me.
So it’s a bitter blow.
Please hear me out just one more time
Before you have to go.

I heard that you found someone new
And at our gate she’s(he’s) waiting.
Younger than the both of us
Is it real love that she’s (he’s) faking.
I guess I thought your tenderness
Would always, always stay
But now you’re going away
So what is there to do
Cos I’ll miss you more than ever
It’s up to you.

I know you used to love me.
You said so in our vows.
But endless days and nights together
Have filtered that somehow.
I know you used to love me.
So it’s a bitter blow.
Please hear me out just one more time
Before you have to go.

Please hear me out just one more time..
Before you go
Before you go
Before you go.

Another good (sad) breakup lyric, with the shock and betrayal, and the touch of cynicism neatly written in ("Is it real love that she’s (he’s) faking.") Write on!

thanks mike this is a valid point, I have left it open for any possible collaborator to add something themselves

Not an unusual circumstance, unfortunately. Possibly a bridge with whatever the 'hear me out' is supposed to tell would complete this?
