Song 1 starts as I currently mean to go on: I'm aiming for a kind of "alt-folk with an English slant" approach this FAWM, as I want to write some material for a new musical project this year.
Our main Mac is out of action, and my wife's MacBook is the only Logic-capable machine we currently have, so I'm trying as far as possible to record and mix on other hardware. I recorded this song on my TASCAM DP-006 4-track digital "pocketstudio" - late at night in our kitchen (!), hence the slightly "hushed" aesthetic - and actually mixed it on the 006, before "mastering" and editing the demo on my iPhone (Grand Finale and Twisted Wave).
I played acoustic (Faith Saturn) and electric lead (D'Angelico Deluxe Bedford) guitars, mandolin (Crafter M70E) and ukulele (Flight TUS35).
Good luck this year, everyone 😀
(EDIT (2021/02/03): I should probably mention that I'm *deliberately* going for a bit of a "lo-fi" "alt-folk" approach with this song (and probably others this FAWM) - think early Iron & Wine, "Bad Debt" by Hiss Golden Messenger, etc.)
Frost on the garden
And mist on the river
And fog sleeps between my ears
The blanket of night-time
That hugs close the winter
It may take the morning to clear
Dreams disappear with sun
Fly before morning’s done
Tell all their stories while you may
Seeds sown in autumn
Will soon end their slumber
Emerge from the warming ground
The floods of December
Make way for the new leaves
And crops come to life all around
Dreams disappear with sun...
