FAWM SONG 2
That was an idyllic rural setting in the 1950's. It is easy to be innocent without television or world wide webs. We enjoyed what resources we had.

My Country Roads
There’s (G) something to be (D) said a (C)bout country (G) roads
The (G) beautiful (D) farm fields and (C) nature (G) to view.
Riding a(D)long with the (C) soft summer (G) breeze
And the (G) golden wheat (D) waving at (C) you(G).
I started my (C) travels when (G) I was a (C) kid
When my dad brought a (D) bike home for (G) me.
A second hand (C) bike with the(G) frame painted (C) red
And balloon tires to (D) soften the (G) ride.
It was only one (C)speed, how (G) fast could I (C) go?
As I (G) tested the (D) bike on our (G) lawn.
I learned to slow (C) down by (G) back pedal(C)ling
And be(G)fore long, (D) I would be (G) gone.
I would pack a (C) lunch and (G) bike down the (C) road
Find a (G) place to ex(D)plore near the (G) stream
Just to look at the (C) grasses and (G) wlld flowers (C) there
And the (G) damsel flies (D) darting mid (G) air.
The rippling (C) water as I (G) tossed in a (C) stone
Or (G) paddled my (D) feet for a (G) spell.
And birdsongs (C) greeted me with (G) sounds of (C) joy
As they (G) flew by to (D)wish me (G) well.
After a(C)while it was (G) time to de(C)part
To (G) wonder at (D) things that im(G)pressed
Get back on my (C)bike and (G)pedal on (C) home
As the (G) sun was now (D) low in the (G) west
And as I rode (C) home, I (G) planned the next (C) time
As the (G) breeze cooled the (D) sweat on my(G) brow
And I looked to the (C)side and my (G)shadow grew (C)tall
My (G) companion for the (D) rest of the (G) ride.
