It is always a joy to cowrite with Jane. I think we did one my first or second FAWM, then almost every year since.. What a fun ride. My day job is elementary school music teacher. I sat down with a guitar on my recess break and very quickly came up with an accompaniment and melody. Then I played it for my grade 1, 3, and 2 music classes. It was a blizzard day so I had from 6-9 students per class instead of the usual 20+.
First grader comments (age 6-7):
E said she liked it but she wanted to cry.
C: I like that song because it sounded beautiful.
F: It was nice and I really liked it
M: That song was beautiful and happy and made me cry. How did you come up with the words?
T: Why don’t you put that song on Netflix?
B: You should put that song on youtube.
L: I like to compare songs to other songs. It reminds me of a movie, kind of. I forget what movie but a movie
Mr. McG. I played song also for the Grade 3 class. They wanted to jam along with percussion instruments (Shakers and tamborines). That gave me an idea to hold a maraca while I strummed the guitar.
Then the grade 2 class came in:
L said it reminds her of Rapunzel.
S: It reminds me of Frozen2, the part they sing, “Show yourself”.
G: It also reminds me of Frozen 2 where Elsa let down her hair in the deep, dark ocean.
Always a pleasure, Sean. I love what you came up with, and it was a joy to read the kids' comments.
Yes, Rapunzel! Definitely. And I'll tell you a secret: I was thinking it would fit nicely for the W2 challenge until I realised that that's about nursery rhymes and not fairy tales. Oops!
Must check out Frozen 2.

I'm on a Story Cube roll - as it were!
These were my words this time:
Let Down Your Hair
Lyrics Jane Eggers, Feb 2020
Music Sean McGaughey
G x 2
Draw the curtain
Fix your mask
Straighten your story
In case they ask
It’s all theatre
They want a show
Let down your hair
And off you go
Star goes shooting
Across the sky
Find your power
Let it magnify
Time to see the world
D Dsus D
And let down your hair.
Been learning from books
In that ivory tower
Now it’s time to shine
Find your superpower.
May feel alien
But this is your day
So let down your hair
And get on your way.
