I had the idea of trying to write a song using overused, cliched idioms and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
Musically, this started as a bridge to another song that I haven't posted but wasn't happy with. I tried to fight the temptation to cram it with tonnes of stuff and keep it quite minimalist. It's a little rough around the edges, so I'll probably tidy it up next month.
I was particularly satisfied with the pun in the title.
For you the glass is half full
Shame the liquid inside is bile
And love is blind
But only cos you plucked out her eyes
If a picture is worth a thousand words
Yours must look like the portrait of Dorian Gray
If ignorance is bliss
You must be ecstatic
If those in glasshouses shouldn't throw stones
You must have an inexhaustible supply of boulders
And I must really know you well
If familiarity breeds contempt
