@vomvorton had a looper pedal he wasn't using, so he posted it up to me. It arrived this morning and this is my first play with it. As is to expected from a looper pedal, yes it's repetitive. I didn't record to a click or anything, and then tried to shove some drums on this which was difficult but I think I managed to get stuff just about lined up.
Lyrically it's about gay guys on tinder/grindr/etc. who call themselves "sane and sorted", boast about owning property, and generally have their job down as "CEO at Self-employed", whatever that means. They probably also describe themselves as "straight-acting" and list cars as an interest. Maybe they'll write down "no fats no femmes" or something about not liking camp guys too to complete the full house of dickheadery. I feel fine being judgemental about these guys because they are awful.
I saw (Sandy) Alex G a week or so back, I like how many of his songs are just one or two lines repeated. So for this I tried to embrace a similar lyrical economy.
(he's got his own car)
(he's got his own flat)
worry that I'm basic and maybe I am
but I'll never be as boring
as a guy that's sane and sorted
