As a retirement present to myself I bought a second-hand i-pad. Luckily it runs Garage Band, which I have begun to explore recently. It's an incredible piece of kit for a free app. So this piece is my attempt to use its acoustic guitar samples along with the orchestral samples.
The lyrics draw on an experience I had as a young man after spending time at a meditation centre. No substances were used to induce this.
I (Ab) had a searing (Gm) vision
Of an (Ab) immaterial (Gm) god
(Ab) Neither male nor (Gm) female
Which (Eb) some may find quite (F) odd
The (Ab) form shaping (Gm) chaos
Per(Ab)vading earth and (Gm) skies
The (Ab) shining (Gm) truth behind
(Bb) Religion's darkest (F) lies
(Bb) Even at our (F) lowest ebb
(Eb) Something can turn the (F) tide
We (Bb) long for deeper (F) meaning
A (Gm) light to be our guide
This (Ab) being communi(Gm)cated
With (Ab)out saying a (Gm) word
It (Ab) all made perfect (Gm) sense
Though (Eb) that might sound ab(F)surd
I (Ab) sensed a single (Gm) entity
With a (Ab) universal (Gm) reach
It (Ab) had a thirst for (Gm) learning
And a (Bb) great hunger to (F) teach
This (Ab) vision quickly (Gm) faded
But it (Ab) stayed with me for (Gm) years
The (Ab) strength behind my (Gm) hopes
The (Eb) soother of my (F) fears
A (Ab) dream? A mere (Gm) chimera?
A pla(Ab)cebo that can (Gm) heal?
A (Ab) comforting il(Gm)lusion
Or a (Bb) path to something (F) real?
