We sat across from each other at the table
The first skirmish of two ought
The tiny table stacked high
With all the books I brought
The bell rang, we wrote ferousiously
wet with sweat, expressions wrought
Working down the list of requirements
I had this without a thought
The promts in line, the rules were straight
I really thought I was doin great
Until I saw…..
The last clue said “find a rhyme with orange”
Orange isn’t a very rhymy word
So I set off to find a rhyme for orange
That I don’t think I have ever heard….
That last clue, it had me puzzled, what would I do
a rhyme for orange stopped me in my tracks
I set off to consult Webster and the Oxfords
And all the corresponding addendum packs
Rogets, Cambrige, and McMillian
Hastily I ripped through all the stacks
I had my sense and wits about me
And a scancion hammer for any book I lacked
Quickly I located a thing
The skirmish host asked me to bring….
Borage is defined as a noun and is a hairy blue-flowered European annual herb long used in herbal medicine and eaten raw as salad greens or cooked like spinach
So I filled up my word salad with borage
Borage rhymes with orange so they say
So I found the elusive rhyme with orange
If you and I say orange the same way…..
