Invoking The Bridge
Date: Feb 1, 2020
for: FAWM 2020
album: Neverything Else
Once upon a liminal space
Out in time quite far away,
But rather, where it stops and bends,
And enlightened ones ascend,
There became a drawbridge set,
Forged of nothing, never yet.
One for here, in universe,
One beyond to match, but worse,
For it was not a thing, at all,
No impulse, just insubstantial,
It existed only in
the theory of invitation.
That neverbridge, which wasn't there,
Freed all the nothing from despair,
Which if it had a sense of angst,
would probably have given thanks.
So I invoke this bridge to be,
for psychopomps like you and me,
to usher over not yet stuff,
if neverything is not enough.
And on our side, a boundary,
a bridge as well, consensually,
to meet, or not, impossibles,
at betweenpoints, crossable.
Never is a long, long jaunt,
to never hint and never haunt,
to never know and never want,
to never move, or stop, or flaunt,
to never have a self at all,
or any part, or any gall,
no function, form, no wherewithal,
so come and be, or not, or stall,
ye mighty neverborn, I call.
