Wanna Follow Me On Bandcamp? Please? :D

  • @johnstaples  3 weeks

I finally got my Bandcamp artist page set up so I thought maybe a few folks here might be willing to follow me? I'd appreciate and reciprocate of course! Now I just gotta hope FAWM stays alive a few more days...

  • @tamsnumber4  3 weeks

If I can figure out how to do it, I will, I have a page on there myself...tricky place to figure out.

  • @nadine 3 weeks

Same here. My bandcamp profile is very fresh and I'll use it for my albums: https://nadinedemacedo.bandcamp.com/

@johnstaples Glad you're on bandcamp now. I'm still collecting other profiles of my watchlist to follow them post-FAWM.

@tamsnumber4 Log in, click on "follow". Bandcamp will automatically ask you to create a fan account. Just enter another username. It's a pity that you can't follow artists as artist account 😞

  • @mandolinda  3 weeks

I also just started a Bandcamp,so this is good information for me too

  • @tamsnumber4  3 weeks

@nadine when I used the same email and name, it said it would merge it with my artist account, so now I'm confused if that is the thing to do or if I need a separate one.

  • @andygetch  3 weeks

Very cool! Yeah I had the funky artist/fan dilemma there too. There is a workaround as @nadine pointed out.

  • @johnstaples  3 weeks

@tamsnumber4 I think that is the right thing to do...link the two up. That's what I did but I am still confused!

  • @nadine 3 weeks

@tamsnumber4 Merging is fine. Noone sees that these two usernames are connected.

  • @ayehahmur  3 weeks

    Done, John (and Nadine).

  • @candle  3 weeks

@johnstaples I love your FAWM 2021 album cover. Very cool 😀

    Also, Done @johnstaples & @nadine

    See You In The Shadows…

  • @nadine 3 weeks

Thanks. I'll add you asap 😁

Talking about bandcamp... Does someone know how to disable the inheritance of tags? I don't want my electronic albums to be tagged as rock and vice versa. Seems like the artist tags are automatically copied into the releases. Which doesn't make sense in my case.

  • @candle  3 weeks

@nadine, easiest way would be to delete your Artist Tags & just input all your tags with each release. I can't really think of any other way of doing it. Unless you make your Artist Tags more generic like the region you're from or equipment you use (i.e. I try to tag my BC releases with "Kenora" where I live to tie them into the local scene - as well as with "Tracker" & "Jeskola Buzz" the Tracker/DAW I use on all my tracks, to tie them into the Buzz & Tracker Scenes).

    See You In The Shadows…

  • @candle  3 weeks

Makes me think, I should probably follow my own above advice & change my Artist Tags to "Kenora"; "Tracker"; "Tracker Music" & "Jeskola Buzz" 😂 I'm such a hypocrite sometimes 😉

    See You In The Shadows…

  • @johnstaples  3 weeks

@candle this is a good bit of advice. I also produce songs in a variety of genres and it is strange to have a bluegrass tag on a rock song!

  • @mistermann  3 weeks

Done - would appreciate a followback at https://ruckusaquinas.bandcamp.com if you take a sample and like what you find - particularly since I JUST dropped an EP's worth of racial justice songs today.

  • @nadine 3 weeks

@candle Thanks that makes sense. Let's try it out when I'm able to connect into my Bandcamp again. Maybe there's also a tag for weird folks like us who are not strictly bound to genres.

  • @candle  3 weeks

    @nadine maybe "Multi-Genre"?

    See You In The Shadows…

  • @candle  3 weeks

There's always one of @fuzzy's favourite tags as well: "Weirdo"

At least for my stuff 😂

    See You In The Shadows…

  • @fuzzy  3 weeks

Ah, @candle, but "Weirdo" is its own genre!

  • @mariekevinkmusic  3 weeks

I finally pulled my finger out and recorded one of my FAWM songs. You can find it on Bandcamp: https://mariekevink.bandcamp.com/
