What's the ONE track you've written this FAWM....

  • @tcelliott  Feb 21

you're the most proud of... or you want other people to hear... or needs more love.

Rules: List only one. None of that "I was gonna put song <insert link> but decided on this one instead: " stuff. I'm on to *you.

*Really, me, that's what I do sometimes and I'm holding myself accountable.

  • @ajna1960  Feb 21

https://fawm.org/songs/115623/ This. 'I Wanna Stay In Love With You'.
I love the lyrics I wrote and I love Corey's interpretation. I did write the lyrics specifically for Corey, and hoped that it would come out like this. It did 😀
It hasn't got much love at all, and a bit more would be cool, and wonderful.

  • @mariekevinkmusic  Feb 21

I still need to write that track. FAWM ain't over till it's over!

  • @hmorg  Feb 21

FAWM isn't over but I feel like that one is going to be hard for me to top and my bandmates already fully embraced it.

  • @jamkar  Feb 21

Favorite from my list was this enjoyable collab.

  • @tcelliott  Feb 21

@mariekevinkmusic You right. But we gotta be proactive as people seem to scatter after the finish line. (Something about responsibilities we've put off for 28 days. *shrug*)

Add it when you either a) write it or b) decide if you wanna.

  • @mikeskliar  Feb 21

Great thread- as for the 'one song-I've just last night written it, I just recorded it last night as well, I haven't posted it yet, its personal, its sad, but I think its the best thing I've written this fawm, and maybe best in a long time.

I'll most probably post it tonight, and its called (tentative title anyway) 'beyond belief'. I'm probably delaying posting till tonight as I kind of don't want it to get lost in a thousand skirmish entries for this afternoon's popular skirmish (and that's not a knock on skirmishes, I understand the attraction and sometimes partake, but I've learned that posting in the middle of one means your song gets kind of buried sometimes)

I know, that's a kind of tease post, but ...well, I guess.. stay tuned 😀

  • @standup  Feb 21

I just posted it this morning, but this collab turned out pretty well:

My collabs this year are my favorites. Funny how that works out.

  • @kanttila  Feb 21

    "OVERDRiVE" with Cola

  • @billwhite51 Feb 21

    consequences... harmolodic blues https://fawm.org/songs/117442/

  • @candle  Feb 21

Somehow I've gone back to my roots (in more than one way) & I've written two songs that hover around the 24 minute mark. Now, don't worry @tcelliott, I'm following your rule here. I'm only going to link to one of those monsterous beasts (because even linking to a 24 minute song is probably excessive in some people's minds, never mind 48 minutes of existential angsty philosophizing & self-doubt…). So here you go: Sanity's Lapse - https://fawm.org/songs/119796/ I'm proud I can still pull off a beast of a song like this & not make it a complete ramble.

    See You In The Shadows…

  • @glasscrow Feb 21

I want people to hear Queen of My World because it will probably never exist outside of FAWM, at least not without serious adjustments to make it unrecognizable from the loop. (I heard it and was like THIS NEEDS TO BE A SONG, and I will make that song.)

I basically used one loop from Breaktweaker and didn't even get to tweak the break enough to add variety or movement.

    Give her love anyway! https://fawm.org/songs/120456/

  • @tawalker Feb 21

Probably “When Spring Came”: https://fawm.org/songs/116126/ I wrote this for my wife, to mark 20 years this month since we first met, so maybe that made me “raise my game” 😊

  • @bradbrubaker  Feb 21

I think, among my instrumentals this year, this is the most fully realized: https://fawm.org/songs/111400/

  • @mariekevinkmusic  Feb 21

My collaboration with @hazeyjane. A song about the Telephone of the Wind in Japan, where people visit a phone box and 'call' their lost loved ones. I think it is the first time I have written a song that is not about love or about my break up and not based on a rip-off of someone else's song. And not just that, Chris added exactly the the sound and music that it needed. I am secretly very proud of us.

  • @stephenwordsmith  Feb 21

The Man in Red, my collaboration with @vainhirvain, is rather wonderful, but is suffering from the curse of arriving 3 weeks into the challenge when everyone is too busy to listen.

    Here it is: https://fawm.org/songs/120080/

(I would also like to plug @vainhirvain as an artist in general - few have so impressed me with their thoughtfulness and thoroughness)

  • @cblack Feb 22

It's the first time I've ever put guitars, drums and vocals together and not hated it. Far from perfect, but it was a very important moment for me. 😀

  • @lyricslinger  Feb 22

Think my favourite is one called 'May The Wind Blow For Us', https://fawm.org/songs/118129/

I've picked it because it's the first time I've tried writing lyrics for a sea shanty, and because it was great fun to write. It also came together pretty quickly which I think is sometimes a good sign

  • @phenola Feb 22

I'm not posting anything. Go and listen to a zong instead.

  • @robynmackenzie  Feb 22

I've done a lot of challenges this year and I think the week 3 word painting challenge has been my favorite. https://fawm.org/songs/120052/

  • @evinwolverton  Feb 22

How 2 Care 4 U is more honest to my style and interests than anything I've made in years: https://fawm.org/songs/115682/

  • @johnstaples  Feb 22

I think one of my latest, Let's Go To Mars, is my favorite at least for now.

  • @jeffjerrywalker2 Feb 22

About lesser-know Black inventors for Black History Month https://soundcloud.com/user-152134514/black-inventors-2

  • @drewhottmann  Feb 22

I think I’ve been trying to find a certain mood all month. Lots of songs circle around the target, but this one captures it best.

  • @guitarpatz83  Feb 22

Honestly, this has been such a wonderful experience and I can’t believe I’m sitting here with seven songs that didn’t exist three weeks ago. Love this community! Most proud of this track, Your Force is Centrifugal: https://fawm.org/songs/117112/

It’s the sort of song I’ve always wanted to write but never been able to. Really funky and all the elements just seemed to come together effortlessly. But I’ve loved every minute!

  • @mandolinda  Feb 22

I had the most fun making this one, but I have been very pleased with my first FAWM overall.

  • @neillarrisey Feb 22

I think it's this one for me. I'd never done anything this minimalistic before so I'm quite proud of that and I think it might be the best song I've ever written.
It's my first FAWM and I'm very glad I did it as I wouldn't have written this, or any of my songs on my page without the impetus of FAWM.

  • @now Feb 22

So far https://fawm.org/songs/113834/ because I really want a dog 🐕

  • @scottlake Feb 22

Wrote this deciding it would be my refrain line song. Right to the phone. https://fawm.org/songs/115754/

  • @radioovermoscow Feb 22

In terms of pure concetrated power, this one. It has everything I've been trying to do recently - face-melting riffs, fuzz guitars blending into the bass, blazing synths, pop melodies and harmonies, a unique structure - all packed into just two minutes.

  • @coolparadiso  Feb 22

Ive got a couple in the works that might end up that way but for now its
https://fawm.org/songs/112874/ The almost title track off my Album to be launched in a couple of day “Juke Box Songs”. If i have not already i will try and have a listen/ read of all of these! I am sure there will be some beauties here! Might be hunting them down for my Podcast!

  • @mistermann  Feb 22

Hands down, both as the first punk song I’ve ever written and as the most important message I’m going to probably get out this FAWM.

  • @scubed  Feb 22

My favorite song so far from this year’s FAWM is “These Wide Open Spaces,” which I’ve turned into a music video:

    Song link here:

  • @sbs2018  Feb 22

My favorite is usually the one I’m working on so once I post it to FAWM, I’ve forgotten it. Lol!

  • @ianuarius  Feb 22

How can you pick your favorite out of 11 collabs???

By picking the o¬ best one!

I'd Like To Speak With My Manager

    Lyrics by the amazing @adnama17

  • @rshakesp  Feb 22

I made a concept album - and im generally pretty happy with it - this was the hardest to write (i’d set myself up for a fall with the title) and musically it uses 3 different time signatures so i was concerned that it would nor flow but i was pleased with the outcome

  • @mattoxic  Feb 22

    Maybe this?

it came together the quickest and seemed to flow straight out of the muse. Normally I fuss around with lyrics, these wrote themselves - not that that's saying much.

  • @daveyboy103  Feb 22

For simplicity, strength of lyrics and overall outcome, this one:

I Can't Do Happy collaboration with Geoff Matthews.

  • @majordanby  Feb 22

Ah cool, great thread. I’ll start working my way through here. I’ll expect nothing but gold 😉😝

Mine is probably this one. My third song. Enjoyed the whole process from start to finish!

  • @bethdesombre  Feb 22

I've been having a great February (in terms of songwriting, though not in terms of the rest of life), and this is the one I'm most proud of at this point: https://fawm.org/songs/118515/

  • @yam655  Feb 22

I really like, "I brought my egg shakers." https://fawm.org/songs/113285/

It turned out to be one of those songs where I learned something new about myself. That's one of the things I love most about songwriting.

  • @wolfkier Feb 22

Not just this FAWM. Honestly, if I drop dead tomorrow, I'd be satisfied that out 1000+ songs across more than a decade, I managed this:
Thanks for the inspiration to push further FAWM!
If you come listen from this post, leave me a #tit4tat in the comment and I'll come find your specific choice here, no hashtag, I'll repay the visit anyway, as I always do. Treats await me, I'm sure.

  • @ustaknow Feb 22

Well, per the OP, actually, neither. However, I find it interesting what is the one most listened to, to date, so far from "here":

I always wonder "why", why this one? And, then, - I see many others there with it on the BC sight listened to, full green bars even 😀 that one would have to dig for to listen. Then I wonder, "why" 😀 hahhh.

Otherwise, the one in process, not yet finished is the "one", so can't ever be posted since does not yet exist. Once it exists, well, then, - who cares 😀 hahh.

(Like any song-challenge, game, collaboration..., "oh God"... don't jam up that process 😉 uNo!? The one, not yet completed, - the most important.)

  • @mhorning Feb 22

Oddly the 1st one I wrote. Was feeling uniquely inspired I guess.

  • @driftwood1  Feb 22

Always my favorite thread for late/post fawm listening. Hopefully I haven't written my best yet, but the most fun I've had so far was this collab with @thefinalfrontier.

  • @mikeskliar  Feb 22

And this one is my 'best song this fawm', and certainly the one that I'd want people to hear. Be advised, its a sad one.

  • @tunecat  Feb 22

I'm pretty pleased with this one.. https://fawm.org/songs/119461/ collab with @ and its the only song the FAWM that I've spent days fiddling with.. But I've had a total blast and there are others that I go back and back to (is it just me.. ? ) and collabs in particular have been very delightful, and the journey from the crappest of crap videos (only because I discovered youtube lets you upload without being public.. whereas Soundcloud doesn't work if you set it to private) to still crap but having fun..

  • @dragondreams  Feb 22

I think my personal favourite is the one I finished yesterday after rebuilding my bass amp.

  • @sunnymae  Feb 22

I have to say my collaboration with @crisp1"As the House Burns Down" nailed it for me on day 3! His lyrics were truly inspired and my music muses were eager at the gate.

  • @caseewilson  Feb 22

I've been going a little deeper with synth and electronica rather than just taking the "easy" route of piano and vocals and this was a fun learning curve: https://fawm.org/songs/121058/ It's a little tribute to my favourite survival horror franchise and the incredible music in it.

  • @metalfoot  Feb 23

I love all my songs and all my collab partners. Something about this song is a notch above, though, so please listen to it because @emkaydeebee and I caught lightning in a jar here I think.

  • @smileymn Feb 23

I wrote a funky jammer that’s not at all in my wheelhouse and it’s the one this month I’m happiest about so far, but none of my others sound like this.

  • @gubna Feb 23

    Maybe this one

My 2nd slothcore track based a dream I had the night before.

  • @spikedirection  Feb 23

I'm struggling to pick one from this year, probably got to be one one of Slothcore ones

I tell you what though, if people could STOP commenting on my first song that's be great. Its just some stupid improvised mush, yet it's got three times the contents of anything else I've done and random people are still commenting on it. 🤷‍♂️

  • @donna  Feb 23

All my collaborations are 'favourites', of course. but I'd like this one to get a little more of the abundant FAWM love. 😉 My collaborators did such a brilliant job with it. 😊

  • @gm7  Feb 23

I have done a few collabs this year and they have been very rewarding.
I do like my 2nd or was it my 3rd song for this year, anyway, Gotta Get Better...with funky guitars so you can't go wrong.

  • @crutherford  Feb 23

so far i think this one written for a skirmish. i almost didn't submit it - i thought - ummm... is this too much?!? almost stopped writing it half way through... glad i didn't.. https://fawm.org/songs/117515/

  • @hmstreetteam  Feb 23

I spent most of a day writing my first power ballad, getting the right balance of mystery and movement in the lyrics, then fitting the melody into the right vocal registers. By the time it was done I was thinking, “My life is never going to be the same again.” https://fawm.org/songs/117527/

  • @leslie333 Feb 23

This was a difficult decision! As a first timer and very recent songwriter I'm not at all sure about what I'm doing. But I really was energized when I was writing Merrimack: https://fawm.org/songs/119123/

  • @psyt Feb 23

    Possibly Melody's Plea. https://fawm.org/songs/115735/
I say possibly because for one, the month's not over yet, and there might be some bias from it being the last one I wrote.

  • @mattpierce Feb 23

I'm a Grampa x3 and one more on the way!
Life found me moving to a bigger house!
Got a piano, baby grand too!
Can't play it quite yet, because I have a 2 year old that like to put passion into his masterpieces.
So, I can only do one song and it was this!

  • @adnama17  Feb 24

I cannot stop listening to what the fabulous @deadhead did with my silly lyrics!

  • @hornesgiftshop  Feb 24

Didn't give it a lot of thought at the time but now it's my favourite by a mile. Must redo the last line, but otherwise it's done. https://fawm.org/songs/116830/

  • @fearlessflight2014  Feb 25

Definitely’Already Leaving’. I didn’t realise what a lifelong problem I’d had with fearing rejection until this song fell out so quickly and resisted any editing. https://fawm.org/songs/117658/

  • @reklov  Feb 26

I made a 9 minute prog rock ballad in the style of early Barclay James Harvest / Moody Blues. Of all songs I made this year I put the most effort into this piece.

  • @jeffjerrywalker2 Feb 27

    Because Black Inventors Made
    Things We Use Ever Day.

  • @jeffjerrywalker2 Feb 27

    See above. This link works:

  • @vuduluv Feb 27

i only put up 2 songs, but FAWM was still pivotal for me. loved it. will try to put up 1 or 2 more in the next 48 hrs... yea.... FAWM song im most proud of "Here and Now"... https://fawm.org/songs/121343/

  • @nadine Feb 27

There were so many great songs which never exististed before FAWM. But my last one made me cry... The randomizer just picked the right person with the right lyrics, that thunderstrucked my heart.
    Thank you for that @nateger

  • @prsongsmith  Feb 27

    "Birds of Galway Bay" https://fawm.org/songs/120233/
Thanks to FAWM (my first this year), I've written more songs this month than I have in any previous year, and much to my surprise, they are almost all worth keeping, but this one feels like something special: a "forever song" for me.

  • @kovbleu  Feb 28

I didn't write as many this year as I usually do, so that made this decision a bit easier. Lol. I really dig how this one turned out. I listened to it for the first time in the car yesterday and that bass made me smile all over again.

  • @terroratspacecamp  Feb 28

I'm terrible at choosing. "Yalla" is probably my favorite song on the album. But if there had to be a 'single', it would be "Do You Believe In Ghosts?".

  • @bluejean  Feb 28

This is #14 and the only one on piano. I’d squeezed all the creative juices out of my other instruments and a friend loaned me her house and piano yesterday for a couple hours. This was the result... to be honed in March... https://fawm.org/songs/122952/

  • @schlimminycricket Feb 28

This one's the pinnacle of this year's FAWM for me. It's all contradictions: incredibly simple, but emotionally complex; fun and playful, but also sad and foreboding; completely opaque, but also some of the most confessional, dear-diary sort of lyric writing I've ever done. And it's catchy.

  • @tuneslayer  Mar 1

I've done a couple I was rather happy with, including somewhat meta-FAWM song that refers back to the annual tradition of a month-long game of Mornington Crescent (if you don't know it . . . well it's one of those odd inexplicable things). I've done a couple of collaborations that have turned out quite well and as usual skirmishes have prompted some very good songs, but I think maybe if I had to choose one I think came out the best, it would be Slow Sad Tango. https://fawm.org/songs/114194/ It needs a proper backing track but that's what all those other months are for, right?

  • @pipewrench67  Mar 1

This one took a little bit to get out based on a poem by @gb9. I like the way it turned out.
    I would really like it if I knew how to mix, but it is what it was;

  • @lennie  Mar 1

    The first one: https://fawm.org/songs/112602/

before I got seduced by skirmishes or bogged down in recording difficulties.

Actually, I haven't listened back to it again (and think I'll still hold off a bit). So much has happened since.

  • @chroes  Mar 1

It's Whiteout. I love many of the songs I did, but this one is special to me.
It also was my first skirmish ever.

  • @wylddandelyon Mar 1

How can I possibly pick just one? There's like a half-dozen that I really love, for different reasons.

OK, I'll pick this one, because I always feel so happy when I sing it: https://fawm.org/songs/118823/

  • @seppo Mar 1

For me, my favourite is one I made in the night after 16 hours workday and minimum abound of sleep for a week.
It's kind of my theme song for me, when I just need to push it and keep it going 'till I totally lose it 😄
I'm a bit proud of this:

  • @bootlegger Mar 1

This one. Idk why but I really like it.

  • @rockstarsmd  Mar 1

I honestly think I ended on the strongest possible note with my final song... huzzah!

  • @wacha  Mar 1

I think for me it would be "Stagnate", I was the furthest out of my conform zone with this one. I still need to do more work on the mix.

  • @daveyboy103  Mar 1

    This one:

    Rock in your River

  • @ampersandman  Mar 1

Always the last one you did. Until the next one.
But at least until 50/90 I will be airdrumming to this one.

  • @chrismyth02 Mar 2

@tunecat hearing your instrumentation on talk to the mountain for the first time was one of my favorite moments this fawm! Thanks again for the collab.

  • @regis  Mar 2

This seemed like an unusually strong year for me. Guess I'll go with "Denouement", as I'm pretty pleased with some of my lyrics and it actually has a decent guitar solo on my home built baritone guitar (I'm very much a rhythm guy).

  • @unkept Mar 2

I have a hard time choosing, hence why I mark all of my songs as favorites on my page... but if I had to choose. It would be Seasons of Strain. I love using my virtual strings and my goal was to play more acoustic guitar this year, and bringing them together always makes me happy.

  • @radiobenedetto  Mar 2

I was having a hard time deciding but now that I see how much listening drops off in the final days I'm going to have to give some shine to my last fully produced song "Midnight Oil". I wrote it after several nights in a row working in my home studio into the middle of the night. I had 2 goals: 1) blend acoustic live performance with electronic production. and 2) have a chorus that lyrically speaks to everyone from the dance floor to long haul truckers to my fellow fawmers in their mad dash to the finish line. I think I succeeded:

  • @quork  Mar 2

This one was a lot of fun, from the minor blues heaviness, to the fun lyrics to the three different harmonica key solos. I put a fair bit of time into the production, too.

    Monkey in the Middle

  • @aeye Mar 2

Tough one but why choose one, when you can choose THE MEGAAAAAMIX of the FAWM project this year 😀 https://fawm.org/songs/118235/

  • @yarimurray  Mar 2

This one was fun and I think the production turned out well considering it was the last few days of February and I was feeling under the gun.

  • @kenmattsson  Mar 2

I think the last one I wrote, which was a last minute collab Embrace Good Superpowers, (https://fawm.org/songs/124668/) felt really good from the start. I got the words from @kahlo2013, and they just spoke to me and I decided to do a melody that just felt natural to me without trying to do anything too out of the box.

  • @karlsburg25  Mar 3

I am shocked that Being in England has produced so much inspiration but i guess its been lockdown itus setting in. Whilst its maybe not the the best of the songs i am proud of my last song due to the fact 1/ i never thought i'd be able to sing it 2/the time sig unintentionally changes 7 or 8 times during the song which i didn't think i'd have the patience for drum creation and 3/ its almost a structure i never done before. So there you go. Although its near impossible for me to pick as i could pick out any of my collabs as i am super proud of all of them and massively grateful https://fawm.org/songs/123986/

  • @jdschramm  Mar 3

Follow https://fawm.org/songs/120407/ is my favorite. It is the one that popped into my head with no pre-FAWM melody or song title ideas or anything. I think it is my best demo from this year as well.

  • @jonmeta  Mar 3

The song that got the warmest response was one I was unsure about when it went up. That's a lesson for me.
    "Gower Street Penguins"

  • @emkaydeebee  Mar 4

So I’ve been thinking long and hard about this, and this is the one that I am just delighted to have created, and that came out exactly as I hoped... it’s a collab with @zecoop and it’s based in film noir... (nothing to do with football!)

  • @kahlo2013 Mar 4

So hard to choose... but I am picking this one as it is one where I wrote lyrics to music for a fellow FAWMer in a genre that I don’t write in - she had the hook and wanted rap lyrics - so writing to her hook and writing in wrap was fun to do and I really loved how it turned out and the message it delivers about compassion and courage for both self and society.

  • @cheezeboy  8 weeks

I would say this one. I had the descending/ascending part, but I used NOFX as the inspiration for the rest of it. I kinda wish it was longer. Maybe for a future rearrangement.

  • @journeyman 8 weeks

this is my most fully realized, i absolutely love the synth sound and bassline, the chorus has one of the sexiest little guitar licks i've ever played, very happy with where the vocals are going... i'm excited about this one!

  • @gm7  8 weeks

The one song that i enjoyed doing the most and liked the most was one of my creations(it took a long time to do and if was in a collab that person would haven't killed me...not really) Other than my collabs, which in a totally different category for me.. was this one "Gotta Get Better" ( aka Chair Dance) song. It's a funky and upbeat song and it should make you dance in your chair

  • @siebass  8 weeks

Gotta be the four-way video collab. I was up first, and I decided I wanted to lay down funky drums/bass/tambo to set the groove, so I had to learn how to mask a video for some clones, which was a lot of fun.

Also I attempted to hint at arrangement based on how I played everything, and everyone on my team picked up on all the hints amazingly, and in ways I didn't expect, each in turn. It was incredible. @seemanski put in some low register guitar and rock-ish vocals, @lum put a funky lead guitar in at a higher register that didn't clash with the rhythm line, and @wobbie came in with the wisdom back and forth for the chorus and response parts. I threw some minimal LCR panning and mixing at it, and it ended up sounding really good (IMHO). I dunno if it needs more love, but I think it's the coolest thing I was a part of this FAWM.

  • @edwardsmusic 8 weeks

I think the best song I've written this FAWM is this one, "Insomniac".
