Handwashing song alternatives...

  • @emkaydeebee  Mar 8

Just for fun... I’m guessing that Corona Virus, Covid-19, hasn’t passed by your attention, along with the general advice to wash your hands for 20 seconds, or the time it takes to sing Happy Birthday twice...

Let’s share some alternative songs to sing! I’ll start to get you motivated... Remember they should last no less than 20 seconds, and ideally not much longer...

Sung to the tune of La Donna é Mobile:

Corona Vi-irus... you will not get to us!
    Covid-ninetee-een, you will not wi-in!
    Corona Virus... Corona Virus...
    Corona Virus, Covid 19!

  • @stephenwordsmith Mar 8

    Roses are red
    Purple's the iris
    Glad you're not dead
    Of Coronavirus

    Repeat x 4

  • @johnstaples  Mar 8

sung to the tune of I Love Rock & Roll

I know you're praying for a brand new vaccine
to try and save your ass from Covid-19
I hope you wash real strong
    while singing this stupid song
But I'm sure it won't be long
    Till you're diseased, yeah diseased
Yeah I'm sure it won't be long
Til you succumb to this atrocity

    Wash your hands with soap
Grab another bar from the Walmart baby
    Wash your hands with soap
Scrub til your skin gets raw and bleeds

  • @judypie  Mar 8

    Lol @johnstaples 😂

  • @davidbreslin101  Mar 8

[To "Here We Go Gathering Nuts in May"]

Washing my hands each time I cough
Each time I cough, each time I cough
Washing my hands each time I cough
Well, I'm never leaving the bathroom.

There's nobody in the shops today
The shops today, the shops today
There's nobody in the shops today
It's because they've run out of handwash.

    I hope that I don't jinx myself
Don't jinx myself, don't jinx myself
    I hojjjjjjvjkb,/.hp[safdkbjdbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb

  • @nancyrost  Mar 8

Not original, but there's always "A Little Bit of Soap":

  • @audrey  Mar 8

Hey @nancyrost That's a great tune. I never heard it before. Love those deep bass voices. You don't hear many songs these days in popular music that use the bass voice.

Of course, we could all sing Ring around the Rosie a few times as we wash our hands. Many think is about the black plague. On second thought, Happy Birthday is a lot less gruesome. 😀

  • @andygetch  Mar 9

To the tune of 'My Sharona' by the Knack

    Gonna wash my hands now
    wash my hands now
while I'm singing no nein Corona
    Use the hot water now
    hot water now
don't want to pass down the line Corona
    Never gonna stop,
    give it up
    such a nasty one
    washing from the top
    to the bottom
    get it cleaner now
Nein Nein Nein Nein Nein wooh
Na na na na na nein Corona
Na na na na na nein Corona
Na na na na na nein Corona

  • @mikeskliar  Mar 9

ha, fun thread! and one of my songs this feb was about corona...

the line that sticks in my head, tho, is the old Paul Simon line ..from 'me and julio down by the schoolyard'.....

goodbye rosie, the queen of corona

(corona is a place in queens, new york, by the way, and no, its not where they make corona beer. tho there was (and i think still is) a great place i used to go on occassion called 'corona ices'

  • @emkaydeebee  Mar 9

@andygetch - that’s stuck in my head now, good one!

    Loving these answers...

  • @ustaknow Mar 9

Well, in prep for Roctober, in October, (cover songs) - if we're all still here 😉 (never to soon!, to prepare for the end, of, the year 😀 )...

    Pending your tempo:
( - With gusto, as in the "outro" 😉 so to speak 😀 Think Crystal Blue Persuasian, in Breaking Bad, then fade out.)

    Corrine, Corrina..., Corrine, Corrina...,
    Corrine, Corrina..., Corrine, Corrina...,
    Corrine, Corrina..., Corrine, Corrina...,
    I love you so..."

    (2x's is plenty)

    Hopefully, no outro's!

    (I was thinking of threads like this, and didn't see a peep, so - didn't. Gud1,4yah, "emkaydeebee" 😀 )

  • @theresaj  Mar 9

Tune of Baby Shark (yes, I had to 😆)

Corona sucks...doo doo doo doo doo doo
Gotta wash my hands... doo doo doo doo doo doo
Watch what I touch...doo doo doo doo doo doo
    Or I’ll be damned

To the store I rush...doo doo doo doo doo doo
Hoard the purell...doo doo doo doo doo doo
Toilet paper to flush...doo doo doo doo doo doo
    Man this is hell

Stock up on booze...doo doo doo doo doo doo
If I’m quarantined...doo doo doo doo doo doo
Don’t go on a cruise...doo doo doo doo doo doo
    Cover your sneeze!

  • @gm7 Mar 9

This is a scary topic ..I think i will "wash my hands of it"!!😊
There are storm chips .......now i have to get covid19 chips.
I'm not buying corona beer either..maybe something stronger like Guinness .

  • @emkaydeebee  Mar 9

@theresaj you just *had* to go there didn’t you?!?!! 🤦🏼‍♀️

  • @andygetch  Mar 10

@theresaj good one! I tried making up alternate lyrics to 'Baby Shark' but my 3yo granddaughter only wanted to sing the original LOL.

  • @emkaydeebee  Mar 10

Ooh look... handwashing poster to chosen (existing) lyrics!

  • @dzd  Mar 10

    Little teapot

    I'm a heavy smoker

    I'm not sick
    Just addicted to

    And calm down y'all

  • @dzd  Mar 10

    Itsy bitsy virus
    Up your nasal spout
    Make fun of sickness
You'll come down with a bout
I hope it's all just mental
    But throats itchy, no doubt
    Itsy bitsy virus
I hope I blew you out

  • @emkaydeebee  Mar 11

    @dzd 😂

  • @ustaknow Mar 11

I like the darker edgy ones "dzd" and the like.

  • @ustaknow Mar 11

Ah, yes, my Mourning-morning-news-writes, 5 min from news headlines - so much to write about.

  • @dzd  Mar 11

Ohhh that's a great virus song! Hahhha

Theres some really scary people out and about!

    Handwashing eh... hahah that's nice

  • @dzd  Mar 11

    Scrub a dub dub
    Wash those
    thoughts out
    In the tub

    Play nice today
    Close your eyes
    And maybe
    Itll all be okay

  • @ustaknow Mar 11

    Public Domain!!! Good1,4yah "dzd" A+

    Three men in a tub,
And who do you think they were?
    The butcher, the baker,
    The candlestick-maker,
They all sailed out to sea,
‘Twas enough to make a man stare. [I'd remove this line, imo]

[Added later, historically speaking, I like the added v2, imo]
Three men in a tub, [a Boat/Ship reference as "i" read it]
And who do you think they be?
    The butcher, the baker,
    The candlestick-maker,
    All put out to sea.

[It's actually got a weird history if one reads up on it, it's either a children's rhyme from ~1800's or a Bar Room ditty from the ~1700's hahhh! Weird stuff out there in PubDom land.]

    Possibly the original:
Hey! rub-a-dub, ho! rub-a-dub, three maids in a tub,
And who do you think were there?
The butcher, the baker, the candlestick-maker,
And all of them gone to the fair.

[The Bar Room ditty version I suspect, - watching 😉 oh my! Ah, the English!?]

  • @ustaknow Mar 11

Ah, lunch time news time and away I go 😀 (just the one), ~40sec:

    Pandemic Panic...,
All I need, is a mechanic
    Broke down on the highway
    Omega Man way

    I joined triple A
    No one comes my way
    I guess I'm the one
    And alone I will stay

    Why oh why
    Did I pay those bills
    With everyone dropping
    Like xanax pills

    All the beer and hash
    I can smoke no cash
    But no one around to
    Complain, poke or crash

[Well, all it was, the news, -- pandemic, officially declared, nothing more to conflate it with.]

  • @ustaknow Mar 12

Eh, - gonna do a bit of clean up here 😀

  • @ustaknow Mar 12

  • @timfatchen  Mar 12

I went to see the pandas at CHengu
That's the place where truly they're endemic
And now CHengdu has got the special flu,
ANd that is why it's labelled a Pandemic

  • @dzd  Mar 12

@ustaknow loved the omega man bit! Yeah CNN does need help with their theatrics hahah
And my oh my quarantina.....she's a nasty old wench hahah

The thin 5090 I snorted a bit on my phone! Thanksnothanks for that!

And yeah public domain is a beautiful place for quickies 😉 hah.....I guess that works a few ways too 😉

  • @ustaknow Mar 14

  • @dzd  Mar 14

Hahah yeah....I scare my friends/family with half my casually morbid talk about such things like hey in case I get hit by that truck....whatever or dont break that I'll need it after your dead hahah

It is just how things go though ya know 😀

I did just send a pic to a few friends that have more than 1000 words hahah hopefully pages, refined to roughly 200 😉

    Just said ...save that fucker!

  • @dzd  Mar 14

    Good topic!
I usually do just not care and try to remember, song lyrics more completed stuff, stories, pictures etc. I usually just thumb drive and leave somewhere dry and hope it's there if I need it still

  • @ustaknow Mar 14

    Interesting stuff.

  • @timfatchen  Mar 14

I had a very dear, wise and older friend, a world-famous writer, who carefully wrapped all her lifelong diaries in plain brown paper and sent them off safely to stay protected deep in...landfill. This came out when I mentioned I needed to dig my diaries from the '70s out and check a few dates: she was horrified, given my then state of mind. When I explained they were just appointment diaries, she was oh so cross with me for scaring her. Hard drives? There are backups including the pair (business and music) that always come with me. Nothing incriminating on them. But also, the CDs are as much a record (ha!) as any--thank you CDBaby.

  • @dzd  Mar 15

@ustaknow Pretty casually morbid indeed hahah I had similiar thoughts a few days ago when seeing one of the old spanish monestaries cemetaries gated up as museums now

I kinda feel the same way about peoples diaries and stuff....hence the stuff I wouldn't mind being seen being the only stuff I dish off to others hahah or actually try to save....
I've had some stuff I just stuffed in corners of the internet that poofed when those websites went down....ahhh well I didn't like it that much anyway obviously haha

  • @dzd  Mar 15

@timfatchen I too would be terrified of even my current diaries hahahah

I couldnt imagine any older than 20 or more years...the thought is scary, especially if it was written for no one but yourself at the time!.....another vonnegut observation...everything good ever written was written with someone specific in mind, or something like that.

  • @ustaknow Mar 15

Yes, indeed, "Josephine", she's real 😉 she's as well "Kimbo" in another song.

  • @dzd  Mar 15

@ustaknow hahah oh yeah that does hit the spot! Applies perfectly 😀

Some kids were smokin all huddled up in the corner and they got scared when I overheard one of them cough and said oh shit hes got the flu! Maybe they got the joke later....good times 😉

  • @ustaknow Mar 18

Ah yes, this thread is not dead,
    Don't put it to bed,
    Keep it well fed,
Till we're all, back, on, sleds (Christmas time! Yayy...!)

    - And so hairUgo:

Ohhh, I went to Germany and got the Measels
Then to Spain and got the Flu
Down to a farm and met one fine swine
Then back to China and got the CV (china virus) one-nine

  • @calumcarlyle Mar 18

Our government told us to sing God Save the Queen while washing our hands but I'm not comfortable with the verse that asks God to help crush the Scots.

Instead I'd choose to sing Cliff Hanley's lyrics for Scotland the Brave.

Although my close second choice would be Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley. No idea why but it just amuses me!

  • @hornesgiftshop  Mar 18

@calumcarlyle I hate to get pernickety here (no I don't, I love it), but the anti-Scottish verse isn't in the original published version, which both sides in the Jacobite rebellion sang (same song, different kings). It was a tack-on like a football song, which later got quoted to make whatever point the quoter wanted to make. The Jacobites had an anti-prod verse that did the same job.

  • @hornesgiftshop  Mar 18

PS Scotland the Brave is a belter, I grant you. Second to the Marseillaise and just above the doomy Soviet one.

  • @ustaknow Mar 18

    @calumcarlyle 😀 😀 😀 I love it!

I compared you guys to Long Island, New York today, - without them, NYS would be a State without a Budget, like some of the others we have 😀

Long live Scotch, or at least American Whiskey!

  • @berni1954  Mar 18

Is this virus "Blowing in the Wind?"

How many will be left when the virus is gone?
    How many grandmas must die?
How many fears can one virus stoke?
Can anyone know the truth from the lies?
Who is behind the media news?
What is it we're not being told?

    The answer I'm sure
is this is the new war.
The answer is this is the new war.

  • @ustaknow Mar 19

@berni1954 that's a clever thing you did there. Bravo!

  • @ceilidh  Mar 22

Or there's the classic CPR song, "Stayin' Alive"...although the best cover was the muppet show with all the muppets dressed up as Marie Antoinette (Miss Piggy) and the French nobility dancing and singing the song...
