A man of many hats. Old enough to know better, but foolish enough not to care. Playing genre-crossing music in and around New England. My real name is Sean Ryder and I work in Worcester, MA... pronounced "wistah" by the locals. πŸ˜€

2019 will be my fifth FAWM. My goal for this year is to stretch my limits as a songwriter. Outside of my comfort zone. Maybe electric guitars?

Please check out my various and sundry musical doings, and come to a show if you find yourself in Massachusetts:

YES, my friend!! You got to 14! Way to go!

Thanks for your comments and support. You are one of three reasons I joined FAWM in the first place (another being the need for a muse, and the third not being able to FAWM this year, sadly)!!

  • @bethdesombre  Feb 25

Yay!!!! Congrats on your win! You're amazing! So glad you stuck with it.

  • @jwhanberry  Feb 25

  • @paiyatamu  Feb 25

Thank you for you kind comments on my Karen Carpenter tribute. She had an amazing voice and I'm glad we live in a time where her music has been preserved with excellent acoustic fidelity. Timeless.

  • @tseaver  Feb 24

Thanks for listening and commenting on my songs. You asked about the background responses in the verses: those are me, imagining the subject's comments, with all the highs and lows rolled off ("telephone effect").

  • @bethdesombre  Feb 23

At this rate you're gonna finish before I do! (glad you're in all the way.)

  • @estheraleida Feb 22

Thanks a lot for your kind words on 'the sound of a writers block'

  • @sunnymae  Feb 21

Thanks so much for your kind comments on I can love you for today. I'm glad you were touched by the chorus. One of those songs that came down real quick. You know those!

  • @bethdesombre  Feb 21

You're on fire! You can make it to 14, I know it! (with good songs, too!)

  • @acousticmaddie  Feb 18

Thank you so much fpr you kind comment on Bosses song

  • @clioem Feb 18

Hey, thanks! Yes, it's a bowed guitarlele - the top three strings are nylon and the bottom three are wound nylon/steel. I amplified some of the metallic sound through an amp modeler in GB, actually 😁 Neat trick eh? I also designed a separate EQ and reverb for each track, I think that helped keep it moody <3

  • @bethdesombre  Feb 17

Hmm. Of those options I think I'd choose "All I got left is this rhyme," because it at last goes with the concepts of the rest of the chorus (Coming around here with words), and self-referentially pokes at the fact that you're writing a song about this -- AND fits with the "used up all my rhymes" for the last chorus.

But the thing that's really helped me this FAWM (that for some reason I haven't been able to do previously) is when I bang my head against a line that isn't working, I go back and change the reason I got stuck with that line/rhyme in the first place -- it's not clear that "I heard them words a thousand times" is so essential that you need it in exactly that form -- figure out what you want the last line to be and then retrofit a second line to it.

My two cents. Feel free to ignore!

  • @theodamus Feb 17

Hey thanks so much for the lovely comment! I'm glad it made you smile 😁

  • @rustyp Feb 17

    I'm a Reaper guy too.

    Sounds GREAT! πŸ˜€

  • @rustyp Feb 17

    Hey Sean,
Thanks for your kind words about "Call you Beautiful." First of all, complete and full disclosure, the mic is actually an sm58, but people swear they're the same thing on the inside. either way, I've been really pleased with what I'm getting with it.

And thanks for your comment on my lyric. I've been working really hard this year on writing good lyrics and listening to good lyrics and trying to open myself up to say mundane things in striking ways if at all possible. πŸ˜€

  • @dani312 Feb 17

Thanks so much for the generous feedback on Nowhere to Go!

  • @lain Feb 16

  • @mikeb Feb 15

Thanks for the comment on 'Bridges', 2 chords is actually quite challenging - nowhere to go except to the other chord!

  • @davewermers Feb 14

Thanks for your comments on "Burned". I appreciate you taking the time to listen and comment.

  • @wistah  Feb 11
